From the Pastor’s Desk
Parish Update
I hope this note finds everyone well!! As you may know by now, we just had the wooden
church floors refinished. John Reilly from Faith Matters restored the floors in our church. It took two weeks
to complete this work. I hope you got to see the pictures of what the church looked like when this project was in
motion in last weeks bulletin. The floor that was restored is the original floor installed when the church was built in
1910. As it now stands, it may be another 20 years or so before we have to replace these floors. John informed me
that we may get one more restoration out of the floors in twelve years from now before we may have to replace
them in the future. But regardless, these floors are strong and in very good condition!! If and when we get new
floors, they would just go over the existing floors. I am so happy the way in which they came out and I hope you are
too!! We used most of last years rebate from the Catholic Ministries Appeal to restore these floors. The cost to
restore the floors was $13,200.00. Thanks to your generosity we were able to do this project and complete this
project in a proper and timely manner.
As you may know, we have just less than three months to reach our goal of 104,000.00
towards this year’s Catholic Ministries Appeal (2014). We are almost there!! We are at 78% percent, up
3% from last year at this time. I am very optimistic that with your support and with the help of our CMA committee
that we will reach our goal again this year. Like last year, we will have one big final push in reaching our goal. We
will kick off with our third phase of this fundraiser beginning next weekend, Oct. 25th and 26th. We will have two
members of our committee speaking briefly at the end of each Mass. Each weekend after that, until we reach our
goal, we will inform everyone what our current status is and how much more we need to raise to reach our goal.
Once we hit 80% of our goal, anything after that that we collect as a parish goes to the rebate that we will receive
assuming we reach 100% like we did last year. This is how close we are!!! We are more than ¾ of the way there.
Together, we can do it!!
I can assure you all that if we make our goal, I will see that our rebate of 22,000.00 will go to
good use in maintaining our church. A special thanks to all of you who were able to make a pledge so far, and
if you have not made a pledge yet, please consider doing so if your means allow you too. There is no pledge too
small!! Every pledge counts. There will be representatives from our committee handing out pledge cards next
weekend if you need one. There are also ones in the back of the church and chapel. Please note that next weekend,
in the regular collection you will also have the opportunity to place the special CMA envelope that you received in
the mail as a way of participating in this wonderful appeal that assists so many people in our diocese as well as in
our community. Thank you for your consideration!!!
************************************************************************
These past two weekends have been a blessing indeed!!
I would first like to thank the Knights of Columbus for preparing and serving at our
complimentary Pancake and Sausage breakfast held in Montfort on Sunday Oct. 5th. It was so
wonderful to see so many of you come out to join us in fellowship. What a wonderful way for us to gather together
and to enjoy one another’s company here at Infant Jesus!
Last Saturday Oct. 11th, we celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation with the Vicar of the
Central Vicariate, Msgr. James M. McNamara. We had over 160 candidates who received the gift of the Holy
Spirit. We had two sessions in the chapel, one at 10:00 A.M. and the other at 1:00 P.M. It was very uplifting to see
so many people come out and support these fine young individuals. There was truly a spirit of fellowship in the
atmosphere. Many thanks to our new Director of Religious of Education, Corinne Addiss along with Anna
Rosenberg and Chris Benedict who sang beautifully and to all those who assisted them in making this day very
special for so many.
Finally, next Saturday is International Night! Please join us for a wonderful evening of great foods
from around the world, great music and fellowship. Please join us at one of our parishes
most popular social events. If you have not yet had a chance, please stop by the rectory and
get your tickets this week! Tickets are only $20.00 each. Hope To See You There!!!
