Congratulations again on your calling to serve on staff at FBC San Antonio!
Eight years ago I joined you on staff here at SMRBC. In our first meetings
together I quickly recognized that God had gifted you in many significant
ways. In addition to your genuine heart for God, I saw your sharp mind,
your ability to communicate and preach the Word effectively, and then
learned of your awesome singing voice. I remember telling you in those
early months that there would come a time when God would call you to
another ministry and that it would be an honor to release you to whatever
God would have for you. Though I’m going to miss you greatly, I’m thrilled
about the expanded ministry God has opened to you which will utilize so
many of your gifts.
So, as you go to San Antonio to fulfill this new calling, I want you to know
several things:

We are extremely grateful for your investment in the students and families of SMRBC over your ten years of faithful ministry here. What a
wonderful legacy of “treasuring Christ” you are leaving here.
We will pray for you, Anna, and the girls as you settle into life in San
Antonio and begin to exalt the name of Christ there. The role you
are being called to is big! We will ask the Father to give you fresh
wisdom, power, and joy each day as you abide in Christ.
We will continue to carry the Good News to our neighborhood and to
the nations. We know this will be bring you great joy, as you hear
of us carrying on in this Gospel work. We will keep our aim on
reaching, discipling, and launching many more in this generation.
Take joy in knowing we will be building on a foundation that you
have helped to lay.
We love you and your dear family! Above all, know how much we love

A Message from the Associate Pastor for Students
Danny Panter
What do you say in a time like this? I will tell you, I am at a loss. It is hard to express my deep gratitude; it is all a
swirl in my gut. You must know that although I delight to join God in what He is doing in San Antonio, I do not
delight in leaving a family that we have entrusted ourselves to and deeply love.
So maybe the best way to begin my last article in the Link is to say, "Thank you." Thank you for loving us. Thank
you for giving me the honor of serving you the past ten years and extending grace to me when I fell short.
Thank you for providing a safe and loving place to start a family, and then for becoming our daughters' second
home. For all of you who poured into us, particularly our daughters, thank you. Thank you for consistently aiming to exalt Jesus in worship and in life together. Thank you for your desire to know God through His Word.
Thank you for entrusting your students to me, and for giving me the best possible students! They have been a
joy and privilege! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
There are probably many of you who are curious as to the new role God has called me to in San Antonio. First
Baptist Church San Antonio has called me to be their Associate Pastor for Young Married Adults and Community
Ministries. It is a role that will be incredibly stretching and challenging as it encompasses varied responsibilities.
The majority of my time and energy will be invested in leading their contemporary worship gathering as well as
all things related to young marrieds ministry, including marriage and family enrichment, Sunday school and
small group ministry, and mobilizing young marrieds to engage the city with the love of Jesus. In addition to
these two roles I also will be overseeing the vision and management of needs-based community ministries ongoing at FBC San Antonio. Finally, I will be the pastoral liaison between the international ministry leadership and
the greater church body. FBC currently has four different international worship gatherings that meet on Sundays, along with ongoing international ministry apart from the gatherings.
So am I over my head?! Yes! Can I do this? No! Apart from Jesus I can do nothing. So, left to myself I will flounder and fail, but by God's grace and the abounding work of Jesus in my life, "I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me." Also, I am grateful that my time at SMRBC will serve me well in this new and demanding
role. The many experiences, equipping of my spiritual gifts, and constant encouragement will go a long way in
preparing me for the challenges ahead.
Please pray for my me and my family as we make
this very difficult transition from one faithful and
loving church family to another. Please know that
we are deeply grateful for your love and care over
the years, of which we do not take for granted! It
has been a joy to grow with you! Your future is
glorious SMRBC!
Grace and Peace,
Danny
