A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR ADULT WEEKLY ACTIVITIES YOUTH ACTIVITIES

FAMILY STRONG
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Jubilee Meets Tragedy
Last Sunday I was intending to preach a dynamic sermon on the mistakes of the “rich
young ruler”. The message would address the proper place of money in the lives of
believers. It would also reinforce our Jubilee campaign. By late Wednesday it was
obvious that the message had to take a different direction. I didn’t know that there would
be a reporter here from Al Jazeera News Network. I didn’t know that a military family
would bring a friend that was actually shot at on post Wednesday. I didn’t know how
many of my congregation had direct ties to the tragedy. I didn’t know that a reporter from
the New York Times would call and ask what I was preaching about Sunday. I didn’t
know that my quote would be picked up by newspapers from Boston to Hawaii. What I
did know was that I didn’t want to say something that made God look silly or the church
look irrelevant. I opened my Bible to find comfort and inspiration. Romans chapter 8
ministered to me, and I hope it ministers to you.
Romans 8:35-39
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or
persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: "For your
sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." 37
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I
am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present
nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all
creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Looking up!
Dr. Randy Wallace
Congratulations to Jason and Stephanie Seymour on the birth of
their daughter, Adalaide Marin, born March 31.

WORSHIP SERVICE DECISIONS
For some time now, God has been developing within me a strong passion for families. So,
naturally, I am excited to head up FBC’s upcoming Family Pictorial Directory. As God continues
to bless our church in growing and touching more lives, it is absolutely vital for us to have a way
to identify one another more effective and showcase our church’s families.
We need EVERY family to participate in this time capsule (of sorts) so that it most accurately
depicts who we are! There are a number of incentives to encourage you to be a part of this
immensely important directory for our church. First, your family will receive a FREE 8x10 of your
photo; second, you will get a free copy of the final directory (if you are not in the directory, you
will not receive a copy) . The greatest part of these freebies, you ask? You DON’T have to be a
church member to take advantage of this program. ANYONE, yes ANYONE, can sign up for a
photo spot and get a free 8x10 photo and free directory. We even encourage you to invite other
families to participate, showing them how our church VALUES families.
To make your photo session appointment, visit our webpage at http://fbckilleen.com/directory.
This will take you to a page where you can schedule your session. Make your reservation and
you will receive an email reminder and a coupon you may use if you chose to purchase any
additional pictures.
There are going to be MANY, MANY more ways to make this endeavor an AWESOME
experience for our church. Look for more updates and information in our church bulletin, Sunday
School announcements, Facebook page, church newsletter, as well as in church service.
It is an EXCITING time to be a part of First Baptist Church of Killeen. I am so grateful God has
placed each and every one of you here, so help us grow our families closer together!

VBS 2014, June 23-27, is going to be here before we know it! Every year, our church
provides one of Central Texas’ BIGGEST and BEST Vacation Bible Schools. In order to
give this gift to our community’s families, we will need A LOT, A LOT of help. I am asking
my church to begin praying NOW for how you can help with this year’s VBS. There is a
MULTITUDE of ways that we need help. Whether you want to interact with kids, or just
want to help with setting up, or breaking down, please pray about how God is calling you to
be useful for His Kingdom building. Please attend one of the following dates – May 4th
(4:30 p.m.), 7th (6:30 p.m.) or 10th (10 a.m.) for VBS volunteer training if you plan to help.
