Responsorial Psalm
The Responsorial Psalm for this weekend is:
(Psalm 96)
Give the Lord glory and honor.
St. Michael Church, Windham, OH
Everything Belongs to God
The first reading from the prophet Isaiah concerns the Persian
King Cyrus, called the Lord’s “anointed.” Cyrus deserves this
title because he ended the Babylonian captivity of the Jews.
However, Isaiah reminds us that it was God who gave Cyrus his
power. He may be a great king, but “I am the LORD and there is
no other,” says God (Isaiah 45:5). Today’s Gospel is also concerned with worldly power. In the passage from Matthew, the
Pharisees try to trick Jesus into speaking against the emperor.
His famous answer is the perfect reply. Like the kings of old,
Caesar can be given the respect due his position, but everything
belongs to God. In the second reading, Paul gives thanks for all
who are faithful to Jesus Christ and his gospel. He, too, reminds
us that our call and the power to be faithful come from God.

Financial Report 2013-2014
Included in this weekend’s bulletin is a copy of the financial
report for the 2013-2014 fiscal year. If you have any questions
please call the rectory at 330-527-4105. Thank you for your
stewardship of time, talent and treasure. May God bless you!
Combined Mission Collection
Today, we are called to offer at this Eucharistic celebration our
prayers and generous financial support, through the Propagation of the Faith, to continue the mission of our Lord - to help the
poor and suffering experience the healing love and peace of
Jesus. As always, your prayers are your most treasured gift to
the Missions. A second collection will be taken up this weekend.
Halloween Party
The Parish Social Life Committee is hosting our
annual Halloween Party on Saturday, October 25,

bring so that we can fill treat bags for all the kids.
First Step for Change
Catholic Charities’ top priority is emergency assistance. The
First Step program provides specific emergency assistance to
women and families with children ages 0-3. Please support this
important “baby bottle fundraiser” that helps Catholic Charities
change lives...one family at a time. Pick up a bottle in the
vestibule and fill it with spare change.
Blessing of Animals
Many thanks to those who brought their pets to our annual
Blessing of the Animals, in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the
patron saint of animals. On hand for the blessing were 10 dogs.
