Change Our Lives
In today’s first reading, Jonah, sent by God to warn the
people, storms through Nineveh, frightening the citizens out of
their wits. It works! They repent before Jonah makes his way
through a third of the city, and God sees “by their actions” how
they have turned from evil.
Then we hear Paul telling the Corinthians that “the world in
its present form is passing away.” He calls for a change of heart.
He stops short of telling them to set aside their everyday lives,
but still he urges them—rather mysteriously—to live as though
they aren’t doing the things they’re doing.
Finally, Jesus stands on the shore and cries, “The kingdom
of God is at hand!” The apostles-to-be abandon their nets and
follow him. Thus in all the readings we hear an invitation to a
radical and immediate change in our lives. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
On Friday, Feb. 6, we will once again have a dinner for all adult
men and women who volunteered in any capacity throughout
the past year at St. Ambrose parish. Volunteers are the lifeblood of any parish, and we wish to show our appreciation for
the many things you do to help keep our parish a vibrant faith
community. The theme of this year’s dinner which will take
place at the K of C Hall in Mantua (State Rte. 44) is “Together
We Can Make A Difference.” Social hour begins at 6:00 p.m.
and dinner at 7:00. There is a $15.00 charge for any nonvolunteer spouse or guest, which must be included with this
form. The deadline for the reservation is Sunday, Feb.1.

The Food Bank is in Desperate Need
The first Sunday of the month is always the time
parishioners show their generosity by “brown
bagging” donations for the local food pantry.
While the need is greater than ever the food
pantry is struggling to keep up. So if you have
never donated before perhaps next weekend you will consider
bringing a bag of non-perishable food or cleaning products. Just
leave your bag in the vestibule as you arrive for Mass.
Presentation of the Gifts
The book for the entire 2015 year is available in the vestibule
for parishioners to sign up to present the gifts of bread and wine

anniversary, etc.) that you would like to reserve to bring up the
gifts, please be sure to sign up early.
