The mission of St. Paul Parish is to Build Community around the
Eucharist and proclaim Jesus’ Gospel of Life and Love through
participation in liturgy, education and service.
Sacrament of Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 1:45
p.m. in the Church. Parents are to register their child for the Baptism at least two weeks before the
intended Baptism. Instruction classes for parents are on the last Thursday of the month in the Rectory.
Sacrament of Marriage
Engaged couples should contact the rectory at least six months in advance in order to arrange for
their participation in the marriage preparation program.
Anointing of the Sick/Elderly
If someone is homebound or in the hospital, please notify the rectory. Arrangements can be made for
the sick person to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Holy Communion is brought
to the homebound by our Minsters of Holy Communion.
Parish Membership
Every family and single adult should be properly registered in the parish, and should be receiving
a quarterly set of envelopes. New parishioners who wish to register, can do so by stopping in at the
Parish Office; or by simply visiting our Parish website for an online registration. We want to know
and serve you and hope you become an active part of our parish community. If you move or change

In his appeal to reach out to the dedicated missionaries who minister to our most vulnerable brothers and
sisters, pope Francis reminded all of us, especially today, World Mission Sunday, to “Give force to those not
able to make their cries of pain and oppression heard.”
Through our prayers, sacrifices and financial gifts,
we become partners with missionaries who proclaim
the Gospel and offer help to the poor in mission countries.

PARISH ANOINTING MASS
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25TH—12 NOON
+ NOVEMBER ALL SOULS NOVENA +
Throughout the Universal Church, the month of
November has traditionally been known as the
“Month of All Souls.”
Here at Saint Paul
Church, we will dedicate all of our Sunday Masses
on All Souls Day, November 2nd, as a special
Novena of Masses for all those whose names
have
been
placed
on
our
altar.
Additionally, the names will be left on our altar
throughout the month of November so that the
priests and faithful of our parish may pray for our
deceased loved ones at our daily Masses.
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a
beautiful gift from God. It is a sacrament that is administered to a Catholic “who, having reached the age of
reason, begins to be in danger due to sickness or old
age. “ It is a sacrament which provides comfort, peace,
courage and, if the sick person is unable to make a
confession, even forgives sin.
Whenever new illness develops or first illness relapses or worsens, the patient may receive the sacrament a further time. It may also be given numerous
times in the case of old age or chronic illness based on
the pastoral judgment of the priest.
This is not to be confused with what we traditionally
refer to as the “Last Rites” which involves a three-part
reception of the sacraments of Anointing, Penance and
the Holy Eucharist or Viaticum.
Please plan on joining us on Saturday, October 25th
at 12 noon. “Through this Holy Anointing, may the
Lord in His Love and mercy help you with the
Grace of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord who frees
you from sin, save you and raise you up.”
Your envelopes may be turned in at any Mass
between now and November 2nd. Those who are
not presently on the parish envelope system may
obtain special All Souls Day envelopes from the
tables at the doors of the church.
“Save us Savior of the World, for by your
cross and resurrection, you have set us free.”

Adell Cirrincione is a sophomore at Clarkstown High
School North, and an active member of our Parish
family here at St. Pauls. She even volunteers as a
Sunday School teacher working with her Aunt Mariana. After finding out that she had a rare bone cancer, Ewing Sarcoma, she was upset - for a bit.
While she recovered (emotionally) with high
spirits, even donating her own beautiful hair to
"Locks-of-Love." In her words, "So that way, some
other girl can have something I wouldn't
be able to keep..." And. while she may enjoy matching hats to her outfits today, the reality is that the
medical bills are piling up!
We are excited to come together as a parish and
hope to raise money
which will in some way offset the overwhelming
number of medical bills facing Adell's family. St.
Pauls will be hosting a "Pocketbook Bingo Night" on
Friday, November 7th, from 6-11pm. The event will
take place in the school gym. Please come - and
bring friends! If you can help or care to make donations either to the family or the event, please contact
Jennifer Hind at 845-641-4043.

OF
LOURDES
A WONDERFUL, SPIRITUAL EVENING
BIRTHRIGHT GOLF OUTING AND
OPEN HOUSE
Sunday, October 28th 2:00—4:00 p.m.
Last Monday evening, over 250 pilgrims gathered in
our church to participate in a very moving, very prayerful virtual tour of the shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Birthright is benefiting from a Golf Outing at
Broadacres Golf Course in Orgngeburg NY on Saturday, Oct.25 at 1pm, sponsored by Sean Slattery
and Patrick Moroney. Cost is $100 which includes a
golf cart, 9 holes of golf, lunch, dinner and an open
bar. Call 845-623-9098 for information. Birthright has
been in the County for 40 years and we are holding
an Open House on Sunday, October 26, from 2 PM
until 4 PM. We would love to give you a tour of our
charitable pregnancy care center, the Birthright office, at 257 S Middletown Rd in Nanuet. There will
be light refreshments.
______________________________________________
Together, we discovered the message of Lourdes
through the beautiful life of St. Bernadette . During our
discovery of the message of Lourdes, we focused on
the Apparitions of Prayer, Penance and Procession.
Our pilgrimage included a beautiful visit to the Grotto
and an opportunity to step forward and touch some
rocks from the Grotto. Later in the evening, we were
able to step forward and bless ourselves with Lourdes
water and, upon leaving, take home a bottle of blessed
water for our homes.
BIRTHRIGHT BABY BOTTLE DRIVE
CONTINUES UNTIL NOVEMBER 3RD
We also shared in the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction followed by our praying together
two decades of the Rosary and holding aloft our lighted
candles as we viewed the images of tens of thousands
of pilgrims processing around the main square in
Lourdes on a typical evening.
Thank you for taking a Birthright Baby Bottle
home and filling it with coins, cash or a check. Please
return it to the church or rectory by November 3rd.
Last year, Birthright ministered to over 500 women and their babies with free pre-natal classes, oneon-one support and other help.
Your help will enable Birthright to continue helping women in crisis pregnancies in our community.
Precious lives will be saved because of us. Thank
you and may God bless you for your prayers and
generosity.
Many thanks to Nora Sumangil and the Prayer Group
who worked with us to bring our parish such a beautiful
and faith-filled evening. Our lady of Lourdes, pray for
us.
