PENTWYN LEISURE CENTRE
The venue is conveniently situated off the A48(M). Exhibitors from the East
travel on the M4 past Newport to Junction 29 and take the left lane to Cardiff
A48(M). Continue along this dual carriageway for a few miles and just past the
PREMIER INN take the exit signposted PENTWYN. At the roundabout take
the Pentwyn exit and the venue is about 100 yards on your left. Exhibitors from
South Wales take M4 to Junction 30 and follow signs for A48 and Cardiff. Join
the A48 and follow directions as above.
SOFT CRATES
The Kennel Club has drawn attention to the potential health and safety implications
concerning the use of soft crates at shows as in its view, they do not offer sufficient
protection to dogs. Soft crates left unattended at the ringside are a potential hazard
particularly when occupied by large breeds, and it has been known for dogs to become
distressed and move soft crates along the floor and also escape. Soft crates should
only be used when there is sufficient room available and when they can be safely
secured.
MOBILE PHONES
Ringside spectators are requested to have their mobile phones switched off during
judging, in due consideration for the dogs and handlers.
Note for Exhibitors : Identification on Cages/Crates
Exhibitors are reminded that it is their responsibility to display their Exhibit / Bench
number on Crates / Cages at all times. This is a Kennel Club requirement. The original
Exhibit / Bench number card, as provided by the Show Society, must not be used for
this purpose.
ATTRACTION OF EXHIBITS : F(1) 17f
The attraction of attention of exhibits by any method from outside the ring is prohibited,
it is the duty of the Judge, Steward or Show Management noticing such attraction to
ask it to cease.

17. DOGS IN CARS ON HOT DAYS : Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot
weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you
through the do’s and don’t’s travelling to and whilst at K.C. licensed events.
* When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to
the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in
traffic jams.
* If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the
show is a good idea at all.
* The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should
be taken, with lots of water available to drink.
* Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free
flowing air around your dog.
* When at the Show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.
* Keep the dog in the shade – take your own shade, for example a large umbrella,
and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.
* Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed
sunlight for extended lengths of time.
Remember, if you feel hot your dog is likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated,
and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dogs welfare.
WARNING : IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO
YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY
DAMAGE CAUSED.
Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all
reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a
dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise.
Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General
Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.
