All other pool areas will be open during regularly available times. Community Day is this weekend Tell your friends — The W is offering a FREE Community Day "There's a place for you at The W" Saturday, Oct. 18, 7 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Visitors will have access to our facilities and can try our classes. In addition, Wartburg Hours College will celebrate its Homecoming this weekend. Our members are invited to attend everything from the parade to The W Hours: Mon.-Thurs. 5:30 a.m.-9 p.m. the Renaissance Faire to the football game. Fitness Area only) Defend yourself Our Self-Defense for Girls and Women program teaches participants awareness, assertiveness, safety strategies, and techniques to protect vulnerable areas of the body. Give our Men's Basketball League a shot Regular-season play begins Wednesday, Oct. 29, and will be followed by a seeded tournament. This league fills up fast, so register before the Friday, Oct. 24 deadline to guarantee your spot. The cost is $120 per team. Be a better babysitter Participants will learn to perform basic child care skills, how to handle bedtime and discipline issues, and how to care for common injuries and emergencies. The fun continues every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday through March 27 for kids 6 and under. Fun Zone is free for members and $1 for guests. Parent supervision is required. Senior Appreciation Day The W welcomes all senior community members to the facility Wednesday, Oct. 22, 8-10:30 a.m., for free coffee and community. Staff will offer short presentations on senior wellness at 8:30 and 9:15 a.m. We hope to see you here! Still time to register for the Zombie Run The second annual Wartburg Zombie 5K Run will take you through a zombie-infested forest Saturday, Nov. 1, 8 p.m., at the Boy Scouts' Camp Ingawanis. Runners will wear lifebelts as they dodge dozens of the undead and overcome manmade obstacles while being pushed to a personal best. Cost is $25 per runner. Registration is available online. Swim Club started Swim Club practice will occupy the first two pool lanes Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:45-6:45 p.m., through Dec. 13. One lane will remain open for lap swimmers.
