In this role, Nathan and his team bring to bear advanced methods, new models, and thought leadership to develop data-based strategies for our clients in media, technology, and beyond. During his six and half years at Schireson, Nathan has led dozens of strategic projects and helped numerous clients innovate in the area of television ad targeting, digital micro-targeting, messaging optimization, brand affinity modeling, customer segmentation, and pricing optimization. Prior to joining Schireson Associates, Nathan spent 4 years at Microsoft in several analytical marketing and business strategy roles. Nathan holds an MBA from The Wharton School and a B.A. in Physics from Dartmouth College. ROBERTO LARTIGUE / partner Roberto leverages existing data, primary research, social analytics and cultural context, and applies them in ways that makes sense to marketers, strategists, and executives alike. During the past 10 years Roberto has designed, led and executed hundreds of engagements to help industry leaders such as Microsoft, History Channel, Kaiser Permanente, Qualcomm, and MTV/Viacom get closer to their customers to anticipate their needs. Prior to Schireson, Roberto worked in marketing and product at a number of venture-backed IT startups, and held various roles at Gartner Group and boutique branding consultancies. Roberto studied International Relations at Georgetown University. CHAR POPP / principal Char leads the overall engagement and research execution across a range of qualitative exploration modes and methods, helping clients gain rich insights into the hearts and minds of customers. She has deep expertise with domestic and international qualitative initiatives covering topics such as scenario exploration, competitive analysis, concept test, value proposition, packaging, positioning and messaging across many industries and audiences. Before Schireson, Char worked in a variety of product, marketing and business roles for Microsoft, Hitachi Consulting and HP. Char holds an undergraduate degree in Theater, and an MBA from the University of Washington Foster School of Business. ETHAN BAUMAN / partner Ethan leads a research and strategy consulting practice focused on developing customer intimacy within organizations. He helps them to reach new markets, inspire disruptive innovation, and create unexpectedly awesome experiences that change human experience for the better. Before joining Schireson, Ethan spent 14 years at various networking, digital media and ad tech startups to help lead early exploration of SaaS (1997), Sounds-Like Internet Radio (1999), Music Download Stores (2002), Wearables (2005), Spotify-like media players (2007) and the early days of an affiliate ad exchange (2009). Ethan holds a BA in International Studies from Johns Hopkins and an MBA from Berkley’s Haas School of Business. NEIL SHAH / partner Neil helps clients frame their business issues into research plans that will inform their critical decisions with relevant and actionable customer insights. He has more than 15 years experience executing market research & competitive strategy for consumer- and business-focused offerings. Before joining the team at Schireson, Neil was Market Research Director for Microsoft Office Division, responsible for the planning, execution and insight generation from its multi-million dollar research portfolio to support product and marketing strategy. He holds a dual Bachelors Degree in Political Science and English from Rutgers University. OLLIE ZIMMERMANN / partner Ollie leads Schireson’s quantitative analysis team, whose mission is helping clients make better-informed decisions grounded in customer and market data. Ollie has extensive experience leading consulting, survey research and ‘big data’ analytics engagements ranging from brand strategy to conjoint analysis and discrete choice modeling. His industry exposure spans tech, media, physical and online retail, CPG, cosmetics, pharma, energy, tourism, financial services and government. Prior to joining Schireson Associates, Ollie worked in both client management and technical leadership roles at Monitor Group. Ollie holds degrees from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (BS), Carnegie Mellon University (MIS) and the University of Maryland (MBA). JEFF KINGSLEY / partner Jeff leads a variety of strategic insights and research projects and also heads up the company’s venture business. He is responsible for managing Schireson’s finances and operations, including staffing and professional development. Jeff has significant experience in leading companies through complex transactions, strategic initiatives and restructurings for the retail and consumer products, energy, financial services and technology industries. Prior to Schireson Associates, Jeff spent a decade on Wall Street and early in his career worked as an operations and supply chain consultant. Jeff holds a BS from the United States Coast Guard Academy and earned his MBA in Finance from the Yale School of Management. JACOB HARRIS / principal Jacob leads research and strategy consulting engagements across a broad set of industries, including music and entertainment, media, automotive, non-profit, and tech. He is responsible for planning the best approach together with our clients to address their key business issues, delivering actionable strategies and on-theground initiatives. He joined Schireson after leading strategic and new business initiatives for a non-profit music and digital media company, having begun his career in artist management. Jacob holds a dual BA in Ethnography and Social Psychology from Boston University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. KERN SCHIRESON / chairman In more than a decade at Schireson, Kern built a world class consulting organization that provided consumer insights, advanced analytics, and innovative strategies to support product, marketing, and brand innovation for leading companies including Amazon, American Express, Microsoft, and Viacom. Prior to founding Schireson Associates Kern led the Marketing and Product teams at two venture-funded startups in the US and UK. Early in his career, Kern was a senior technical architect for Pacific Bell, and published author and lecturer on the subjects of IT Security and Identity Management. In addition to his role as Chairman of Schireson associates, Kern is currently serving as Executive Vice President of Data Strategy & Consumer Intelligence at Viacom Media Networks.
