From Our Pastor
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Acve listening is a skill that is taught to those in
counseling and ministerial posions with the purpose being to
always fully hear the person speaking and from where they
are coming. Jesus was an acve listener- knowing he was
always being tested, the intenon of the quesons, and then
how to respond so as to answer their queson and not fall into their trap.
Masterfully Jesus shows us how to listen, receive, and shake off planned
verbal a/acks with ease. Learn about acve listening and find ways to
pracce and then enact this skill with those who communicate with you.
Also, as I am unable to respond to each one of you individually,
please allow me to use this medium to THANK YOU for your prayers, gi3s,
cards and well wishes for both my ordinaon anniversary (September 10th)
and for my birthday (October 3rd). I am grateful to the Lord, and thank him
frequently at my masses, for the opportunity to shepherd among you at
this me in my life. I always need your prayers that I can be the shepherd
of his flock in accordance with HIS will.
Blessings upon all of you - Fr. Isidore

29th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus knows that the Pharisees were seeking to entrap him and he does not allow it. Government has a
role to play, but God’s role is always more central and
important. Quesons that arises from this Gospel are:
Do we live in a way that reflects the primacy of God in
our lives? Do our lives show God’s values regarding
sharing our gi,s and resources in the world? Do the
poor have a place of primacy in our consciousness, as
they do for God? What is one thing we can do this
week to let the poor have a privileged place in our life
and consciousness?
“No One Dies Alone” (NODA) is a volunteer program
that offers bedside companions for paents in the
final stages of life who have no one to be with them.
The program was iniated in the Seton Family of Hospitals in April 2009 and is looking to expand through
addional volunteers.

I am so proud and happy that St. Thomas
More parishioners were the majority at
“meet our future mayoral candidates” at
Spicewood Springs Library on Saturday
September 27th. One of the candidates
we met and interviewed will definitely be
our next mayor. I am of the convicon
that a good Chrisan is not the one who is only
focused on our future heaven but is also acvely
involved in making this side of heaven a be/er world
to live in. Your civic parcipaon is a tremendous
opportunity to elect the type of leaders that will make
our city a be/er place to live. A good candidate for
heaven must be a responsible cizen of the world by
acvely fulfilling his/her civic responsibilies. Please
get busy now forming your conscience to vote for a
candidate of your choice, even if this means in some
situaons, choosing the lesser evil. - Fr. Isidore

Each Thanksgiving the STM Mobile Loaves & Fishes
Ministry provides an opportunity for parishioners to
share their own family recipes and tradions with
area families in need. We lovingly prepare 60 “homecooked” meals that include a turkey, stuffing, holiday
side dishes, dessert and more. We are in need of
various home-cooked meals and volunteers to pack
and deliver meals to families. To volunteer or donate,
sign up at: h/p://ml3hanksgiving.weebly.com/.
This is a great opportunity to gather as a family, with
friends or as a ministry to share your "home
cooked" recipes with those in need. “Wherever two
or more are gathered in my name, there I am with
them.” - Ma/hew 18:20
You can also help out Mobile Loaves &
Fishes and the Eagle’s Wings Retreat
Center by having your Thanksgiving
meal turkey smoked by the STM
Men’s Club on Thanksgiving Eve. The cost is $20 per
turkey and ALL money raised will go to these two

Respect Life Reflec*on
Imagine yourself pausing in quiet
wonder in front of a beauful piece
of art. Now think of the arst who
created that masterpiece with
painstaking care and precision,
stepping back to admire his work.
Each of us is a masterpiece, created
by God with purpose and tenderness. We are each
loved so intensely and are each of such great worth
that we cannot even comprehend it.
Pope Francis, who has capvated the world with his
humility and compassion, shows through his acons
that “even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick,
the old, the unborn and the poor, are masterpieces of
God’s creaon, made in his own image, desned to
live forever, and deserving of the utmost reverence
and respect.” (2013 Day for Life Greeng)
Please pray for and try to promote a greater respect
for all human life.
