Prep Mandarin Overview Term 4 2014 Topic: Farm Animals 在农场 Unit Descriptions This term, the main area of learning revolves around the topic ‘Farm animals’. Students will learn words and phrases relating to farm animals and simple measure words. Their prior knowledge and language acquisition in this new topic will be further enhanced through games such as imitating animal movements and animal sounds. The topic also provides opportunities to link previous topics such as numbers, colours and body part words. Advanced learners will have the opportunity to be further stretched if they have demonstrated the skills required in the key learning areas e.g. listening, speaking, character recognition and writing. Working in group activities, they will organise and present information using inherent knowledge in a wider variety of sentence structures with longer and richer texts. The written worksheets are designed to promote a higher degree of character recognition and writing skill for them.
