High-level security meet in UAE to follow-up regional situation
Raising level of security readiness at border posts tied to Muharram
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 18: A senior
security source disclosed that raising
the level of readiness of security
departments at the border posts early
next week as announced by the
Interior Ministry coincides with the
beginning of the month of
Muharram and nothing more,
reports Al-Anba daily.
The source added such tough
security measures are being taken
based on the current territorial situation, stressing preparations for the
month of Muharram, which is the
period of worship for Shiites and the
day of Ashura, necessitates regulating the traffic and enforcing security
in front of the Hussainiyas.
On the other hand, a source said
high-level security meeting will be
held in United Arab Emirates
(UAE) this week to follow-up the
regional situation, security coordination, and action plans of the six
Gulf states, adding Kuwait will
attend the meeting with a high-level
security delegation from Interior
Ministry.

Gas leak cause

Fire broke out in the kitchen of a house in
Sabah Al-Nasser area due to gas leak. No
injuries were reported but limited material
losses were incurred.
According to security sources, when the
Control Room of Kuwait Fire Service
Directorate received information about the
incident, firefighters from Ardiya and Jleeb
Al-Shuyoukh fire stations rushed to the
location and extinguished the fire within a
short time.

38 arrested in security sweep

A total of 38 individuals were arrested during
security campaigns that were launched by
Jahra securitymen based on instructions
from the Jahra Security Director Major
General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah.
According to security sources, eight expatriates were arrested in possession of locally
brewed liquor, six individuals in possession
of drugs, 15 individuals without their Civil
IDs, five violators of residency law and four
individuals who were reported as absconding. The officers also seized 10 vehicles and
issued 80 citations against various traffic violations.
Sources revealed that the campaigns
were held in Kabad, Taima, Sulaibiya, Oyoun
and Nassem Roundabout.

Police have arrested five persons for violating Environment Protection Law by shooting
birds and ducks using hunting guns, reports Al-Rai daily. Sources said the Interior Ministry
assisted police patrolmen and guided them to the suspects with helicopter. The suspects
with their guns were referred to concerned authorities.

Fire tackled: Firefighters were able to
extinguish a fire that broke out in an apartment at Hawalli immediately after the
Operations Room of the Interior Ministry
received a report about the incident.
The officers went to the location accompanied by paramedics and securitymen and
the fire was extinguished without registering human casualties. A case was registered.

Three children said

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 18: Three children
of ages 3, 4 and 5 were admitted in the
Intensive Care Unit of Jahra Hospital
after they consumed pesticide.
According to sources, the man that
requested for the rescue of the children
explained that representatives of a
company that sells the pesticides left
some pesticides in the house, which
the children had innocently consumed.
He revealed that they started falling
one after the other such that one of
them had even stopped breathing but
he was resuscitated in the hospital.
The police have registered the case for
investigations.

woman whose baby’s health was
negatively affected due to a medical error that was committed during the delivery process.

Mohammad Ahmad Taleb said his
client received three injections
while she was in the hospital,
which however caused permanent
movement disability for her child.
According to the medical report,
an investigation was made to
determine the cause of the injuries
after which it was discovered that
the cause was a medical error.
Accordingly, the plaintiff demanded for compensation for the related
damages.

Man acquitted of beating wife:
The Misdemeanor Court acquitted
a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused
of attacking his wife and daughter
during a family dispute. His wife
had filed a case against him and
had presented a medical report to
support her claim.
During the court session, his
daughter said she was trying to
separate her parents during the dispute when her father started beating her due to which she sustained
bruises. His son also revealed his
father had physically attacked his
mother.
The defense counsel Attorney
Khalid Al-Suweifan from AlKhashab Law Firm stressed that
all allegations against his client
were fabricated because of a marital misunderstanding.
He urged the court to discountenance the testimonies of the children because they were part of the
dispute, stressing that the allegations were based on circumstantial
evidences rather than reality.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 18: Fire
broke out in a boat store in
Shuwaikh area. No casualties
were reported but material losses
were incurred.
According to sources, when
the Control Room of Kuwait Fire
Service Directorate received
information about the store on
fire, firefighters from Shuwaikh
Industrial Area and Shuhada fire
stations rushed to the location
and extinguished the fire before
it spread further.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 18: Twenty five
foreigners are being held on board a
German ship (KATHERINA St Jones)
in Shuwaikh Port for four months,
reports Al-Rai daily.
The management of Marine Survey in
the Ministry of Communications has
issued a decision to impound the ship if
payment isn’t made against the damage
caused by a collision with a crane container worth KD 2.5 million, which
belongs to a company operating in the
port. The crew indicated lack of ability to
pay, considering it exceeds the price of
the ship itself.

Expats held at airport: Officers at
the airport prevented a Pakistani family from entering the country on forged
British passports, reports Al-Anba
daily.
The father claimed he and his family holds authentic British passports,
but high-tech device proved they were
forged. The family has since been
referred to the Criminal Investigations
Department.
Meanwhile, officers at Kuwait
International Airport referred a
Lebanese man to concerned authorities for attempting to bribe a passport
officer to allow him entry to country,
reports Al-Anba daily.
The passport officer is said to have
checked the records and discovered
the Lebanese man was earlier deported
and banned from entering the country.
He offered the officer KD 1,500 in
bribe to allow him entry but the officer
notified his superior and the man was
arrested.
