Hawally securitymen, acting on the order of Hawally Security Chief Brigadier Abdullah Al-Ajmi, arrested the youths when they suspected them in Salmiya during a stop and search operation. The officers caught them with marijuana, Tremadol pills and a sharp object. They have referred the suspects for prosecution. KUWAIT CITY, Dec 20: A lawyer has accused Director General of Criminal Evidences Department Major General Dr Fahad Al-Dousari of squandering almost KD 50,000 from the public funds by allowing a female doctor go on a study leave for a period of one year to obtain doctorate degree without any official study leave or scholarship, reports AlRai daily quoting an informed security source. He revealed that the lawyer submitted the petition on behalf of his client — a medical doctor affiliated to the Forensics Department at the Criminal Investigations Sector. The source explained that the Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lt General Sulaiman Al-Fahad had previously referred the petition to Major General Al-Dousari for review. Al-Dousari had revealed that the woman obtained the PhD degree while she was employed by the ministry. He had reported the issue to the former undersecretary General Ghazi Al-Omar who had verbally approved the request of the employee due to which the issue was beyond his capacity since it was an order from above. Later, Lt General AlFahad decided to refer the case to the Legal Affairs Department of the ministry for review before informing the Public Prosecution the outcome. ❑ Al-Rai daily photo Brigadier Al-Ghadoury ‘Awareness programs help youth’ Rate of juvenile crime down considerably: Al-Ghadoury KUWAIT CITY, Dec 20: Director of Minors Protection Department at the Ministry of Interior Brigadier Bader Al-Ghadoury says the rate of juvenile crimes has declined considerably due to concerted efforts exerted by the department in fighting crimes and correcting youths through awareness programs, reports Al-Rai daily. Brigadier Al-Ghadoury revealed that Jahra has the highest percentage of juvenile crimes among all governorates in the country due to the high population density and vastness of its area. He said attacks on lives and wealth are the most common cases in the country, stressing that the protection of minors is not only the responsibility of the police but also that of the entire society particularly of the family since that is where the upbringing starts. Brigadier Al-Ghadoury warned families against excessive pampering of children with unwanted luxury, revealing that the average age of viewers of pornography movies is below age 10. He stressed that the department should do more to advise students, youths and adolescents against unruly attitude and behaviors, declaring that the department is cooperating fully with the Ministry of Education to organize awareness campaigns in this regard. ‘Shabu’ most dangerous drug: expert US citizen among 6 people arrested in possession of different types of drugs KUWAIT CITY, Dec 20: Officers from Hawally Security Support Unit arrested four men — a Kuwaiti, an Omani, an American and a Bedoun with an unspecified quantity of drugs and its paraphernalia behind a popular shopping mall in Salmiya, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Based on directives from the Hawally Security Chief Brigadier Abdullah Al-Ajmi, the officers intensified raid of all suspicious locations within the governorate. The team, led by Captain Falah Hussein, ordered a car conveying the four suspects to pull over and discovered that they were drunk and nervous. The officers conducted a search of the car and discovered 16 sachets of chemicals, a quantity of herbal items that looked like drug and paraphernalia for drug administration. The suspects have been referred to the concerned authority for prosecution. Meanwhile, Farwaniya securitymen arrested a Kuwaiti youth and his expatriate accomplice in possession of different types of illicit drugs in Farwaniya area, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The officers were patrolling the area when they suspected the vehicle conveying the duo due to reckless driving. They ordered the driver to pull over and searched the vehicle to find two sachets of marijuana and crystal meth in addition to 14 narcotic pills, 3 bullets and a knife. The suspects have been referred for prosecution. Meanwhile, two Kuwaitis were arrested in possession of a bag containing crystal meth, a narcotic pill and a cigarette stuffed with hashish. He said, “I seek Allah’s refuge against the evil from taking such a step”, reports Al-Rai daily. Lt General Al-Fahad declared that such a rumor will have higher negative implications on the officers than the ministry, which is always committed to welfare of the brave officers who have been serving the country meritoriously for several years. The officers were patrolling the area when they noticed the suspect driving recklessly and ordered him to pull over. They checked his vehicle and found the concealed illicit items. He was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him. ❑ ❑ ❑ 8 Bahrainis injured: Eight Bahrainis sustained various degrees of injuries and fractures when the vehicle conveying them somersaulted at a location close to Wafra, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the accident, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location and referred the injured victims to the nearest hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident occurred because one of the vehicle’s tyres had burst. No casualties Tent set on fire in Julai’a KUWAIT CITY, Dec 20: An unknown person set a tent in Julai’a desert on fire but firefighters succeeded in extinguishing the fire without any injury or death, reports Al-Seyassah daily. When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the fire, firefighters rushed to the location with securitymen and paramedics. Preliminary investigations revealed that the action was premeditated, so the officers lifted fingerprints from the location for conducting investigations. The owner of the tent has been summoned by the police as part of the investigation procedures.
