Draft resolution (Chief Whip of the Opposition): That the House –
(1)
notes that Mr Armiston “Watty” Watson passed away suddenly in the
early hours of Sunday, 12 October 2014;
(2)
further notes that Mr Watson served as a Member of Parliament from
1994 until his retirement in 2014 and that during this time he led the
Democratic Alliance in the National Council of Provinces and also
later served as the Chief Whip of the Opposition in the National
Assembly;
(3)
remembers that Mr Watson was a true servant of South Africa and
worked tirelessly to strengthen and promote our democracy;
(4)
acknowledges that his untimely death has robbed South Africa and the
Democratic Alliance of a source of inspiration and a committed
leader;
(5)
extends its sincere sympathy and condolence to his wife Madeleine,
son Armiston, daughter Jacqueline and the entire Watson family;
