Rules and Regulations
ALL EXHIBITORS MUST SIGN RISK ACKNOWLEDGEMENT & WAIVER
For Euroa Agricultural Society general regulations please refer to the general show schedule available
from the Secretary on 5795 2527 or from the Secretaries office on the day of show.
Order of judging may be altered at the discretion of the stewards. All competitors and spectators,
whether competing or not, do so at their own risk. Competitors are covered for Public Liability.
No refunds on unused entry tickets. All prize money must be collected on Show day.
Stallions must be securely confined when not in the Ring, in a float or truck.
Protests must be received by Secretary/Ringmaster, in writing, within one hour of the event to which the
protest relates, and be accompanied by $50, which will be refunded if the protest is upheld.
EV (Equestrian Victoria) affiliated: Conducted under EA (Equestrian Australia) rules and regulations.
VAS Ltd. Affiliated
Measuring: All horses competing in height classes should bear current height certificate. Judge may ask for
a horse to be measured if they believe it is competing in it’s incorrect height class.
Junior Riders: Any rider under the age of 18 years, must wear protective headgear to the current
Australian, European or American standard. The restraining harness must be secured and fastened
at all times. Riders under 18 years must wear short boots without gaiters in riding competitions.
Horses may only compete as EITHER a Show horse OR a Show Hunter in their height class,
except Classes 8 & 9 in Ring 1, Classes 10 – 16 in Ring 2 and 10 - 12 in Ring 3
Once a ridden horse has won a Championship in one ring, (excluding Ch. Leading Rein/First Ridden in
Ring 1, Ch. Owner Rider Childrens Mounts in Ring 2, and Best First Season/Newcomer in Ring 3,) it is
not eligible to compete in its height class in another ring.
Show Hunters: Show Hunters are quality show animals showing more substance and boldness of movement
than is required for show horses.
Leading Rein Pony – Pony 12hh or under, ridden by a child 5 yrs. & under 8 yrs. Handler to be 18 years
and over. Snaffle bit must be used. No spurs or whips. A leading rein is attached to the pony’s
noseband, and is held by the handler in their left hand leaving the right hand free to help the child if
needed. Pony will only be required to walk, and trot individually on the circle, and walk and trot in the
workout. It is the pony being judged – it’s conformation, paces and manners. It is not a smartest on parade.
First Ridden Pony – Pony 12.2hh or under ridden by a child under 12 yrs. Snaffle bit must be used.
Pony will only be required to walk and trot on the circle, with a short canter included in the workout.
Stallions/Colts are not eligible to compete in ridden classes except where specified.
“Local” - resident within Shire of Strathbogie. Proof of eligibility may be required.
“Intermediate” is not to have placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in that type of class at a Royal Show.
“First Season/Newcomer” For horses, galloways & ponies that have not competed under saddle
before 1st August 2014 and must be shown in an ordinary snaffle bit.
“Good Hands” - for riders 12 years & under 15 years on day of show. Judged solely on riding ability.
Must use smooth single jointed snaffle bit, with or without caveson noseband. Straight bar snaffles and drop
nosebands are not allowed.
"Off The Track" – Open to ridden thoroughbreds unraced or raced, 4 yrs. & over, who are reg.with RISA.
Winner qualifies to compete in final at VAS 2014 Saddle Horse Champs. For full regs. see VAS website.
CAMPING AND USE OF YARDS:
The Euroa Agric. Soc. cannot be held liable for any injury to a horse while it is confined in a Society yard – See Risk Acknowledgement & Waiver.
Fees: $10 per night and following day (5.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.) per yard or $5 per yard for day use only.
Bookings are required – 5795 2527- must be accompanied by fees to guarantee allocation –
payable to Secretary, P.O. Box 46, Euroa before showday.
Note: Exhibitors arriving on Friday will be required to pay the normal admission prices.

Victorian Agricultural Shows Ltd. And Euroa Agricultural Society Inc. (together “the suppliers) advise that participation in horse sports at an agricultural show or horse competition
contains elements of risk, both obvious and inherent. Horse sports are dangerous recreational activities and horses can act in a sudden and unpredictable way, especially when
frightened or hurt.
1. By signing this waiver I acknowledge that:
1.1 participation in horse sports is a hazardous activity and may result in injury, loss damage or death to me:
1.2 participation in horse sports requires certain skills. I declare that I have sufficient skills to be able to safely and properly participate in the events;
1.3 horses can act in a sudden and unpredictable way, especially if frightened or hurt, or if exposed to loud or unfamiliar noises;
1.4 if held at an agricultural show, the horse sports will be held in close proximity to rides and large groups of people, and that there may be loud and unfamiliar
noises which can frighten horses;
1.5 as the event is held outdoors, there are risks to me and my horse as a result of the weather conditions, including either extreme hot or cold weather, rain or wind;
1.6 insects or other animals may cause my horse or other horses to become frightened and act in an unpredictable way;
1.7 there is inherent in horse riding events the risk of suffering injury including falling from my horse;
1.8 I am responsible for ensuring that I have and will wear equipment suitable for safety and properly participating in the event; and
1.9 I use the Facilities of Euroa Agricultural Society Inc. entirely at my own risk, as I find them and with prior acceptance of the risk of possible danger to me/my horse
2. If I suffer harm while participating in a horse event, I will not hold the Suppliers, their employees or agents legally responsible for any injuries I suffer. I will not sue the
Suppliers, their employees or agents for any claims, costs, damages or liability. I agree to release the Suppliers and their employees from legal responsibility for the
services I have been provided.
3. I acknowledge and agree that my participation in the horse sports and associated activities are a danger and may have inherent risks as a result of which personal injury
(and sometimes death) may occur and I accept and assume all such risks of personal injury of death in anyway whatsoever arising from these activities and hereby waive
my individual right to sue the Suppliers for all claims I or my representatives may have for such personal injury or death against the Suppliers in any way whatsoever
arising from or in connection with these activities.
4. I will not consume any alcohol or illicit drugs while participating in the horse sports and agree that such use may result in me being excluded from an event with no
entitlement to any refund or money paid for entry to the Suppliers.
5. I agree to be bound by the rules and guidelines of Victorian Agricultural Shows Ltd. as varied from time to time.

heirs, next of kin, executors and administrators.

affiliated with the HRCAV. Riders must be current members of the Horse Riding Clubs Association of Victoria. Current
membership/performance cards and standard entry form, Mar08 Version, must be handed to the Card Secretary, 30 minutes prior to
commencement of your first class. Approved helmets and club uniform is compulsory. Riders to supply their own numbers to be
