The appellant filed a RTI application on 3.9.2013 seeking detail of account no as mentioned in RTI application of Mrs Asha at Cananra Bank and total amount deposited in it. CPIO vide letter dt 18.9.2013 transfer the application to District Social Welfare Officer (Central), Dept of Social Welfare, New Delhi, who further transferred it on 27.9.2013 to District officer (North). Having received no reply within the prescribed period, the appellant preferred First Appeal on 13.11.2013. Claiming nonfurnishing of information from the Respondent authority, the appellant filed Second Appeal before the Commission. 3. The Appellant stated that some women have wrongly claimed to be widows and residing at mentioned address to get widow pension from the Govt. If what he stated is true, it will be a case of fraudulent claim of widow pension which not only drains public exchequer but also prevents genuine and deserving widows in need from getting the pension, to that extent. The Appellant raised these doubts regarding two women, in this application and another separately. 4. The Commission recommends the Public Authority to take this as complaint and inquire into the matter to save public money. The Commission directs the PIO to inform the Appellant whether Ms.Asha is residing at the place mentioned in the RTI application and whether she is a widow.
