David Cherwien Meditation of Preparation from Psalm 106 Obedience to God is both a gift and a task. The heart has been given the ability to love. The soul has been freed from the finality of death. The mind has been granted the inspiration of God’s love. Our task is to place ourselves, so endowed, in service to others--that they too may know of God’s mercy and grace. Call to Worship Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. You satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love; You make us glad so that we may rejoice. From everlasting to everlasting, you are God. Let us praise Him with our worship. Introit (11:00) I Was Glad C.O. Our primary purpose this first month has been to write the Ministry Information Form (MIF), which becomes the position posting document to be read by all of the pastors who God may be moving to consider FPCA as their next congregation. The MIF includes Five Narrative Questions and Ten Leadership Competencies that will be of great importance to both the PNC and the pastoral candidates during the next stage of the process, so we have spent several hours on these areas of the MIF. Our committee has felt so blessed to have the Mission Study Report that was organized and written by Matt Annen, Ruth De Zeeuw, Bob Koch and Bodil Overtree, based on input from our congregation. We spent one whole session studying this report before ever putting fingers to keys of a computer to begin our work. We are hopeful that our MIF will complete the Committee on Ministry and Session reviews and approvals in October so that we may post the position soon. Thank you for your prayers over this committee. Our work together has been full of spiritual direction and blessed by these prayers. 6 Prayer Ministry Prayers for those with health and other concerns: Lanier Horton, Linda Chamberlain, Jim McCoy and family, Bob Koch, Homer Reynolds, Laurie Bell, Fred Cook, Bryant Hutchinson, Andrew Bridges, Shirley Bragg, David Boice, Manuel LeBlanc, Sam Polk, Albert Ross, Dick Haney, Madge Casselman, Craig Poindexter, Bonnie Forte, Craig Sanders, Josh Petrie, Bobbie Fowler, Bill Hayden, Brooks and Connie Taylor, Allen Underwood, Wayne Snyder Please contact the church office at 817-274-8286 if you have any congregational care needs. To “put aside and save” is an intentional act of dedication—and often a sacrificial act. …so that collections need not be taken when I come. An unanticipated collection could be a burden on the people. Anticipated week to week, the offering could be an occasion for joy. ***** Rita and Dave rarely discussed their church offering.
