Unscripted, Hinsdale South’s Improv Acting Troupe is auditioning for its 2 nd season. If you are interested in
becoming a member, join Mr. Yuska and the Improv Troupe leaders on Wednesday, October 29th from 3:00
to 4:30 in Mr. Yuska’s room (226). You will sign up at the meeting for a ten-minute audition on Thursday,

Congrats to the Boys’ Cross Country Team on being Regional Champions! The state’s 12th rated boys upset
#6 Wheaton Academy to win the team title. Charlie Nodus was the individual champion, followed by Roman
Drabchuk, 3rd, Joe Eilbert, 7th, Vicente Perez, 9th, Chris Joseph, 13th, and Matt Daniel, 39th. The team will
compete at Sectionals on Saturday where they will try to qualify for the State Meet.
If you took an Entertainment Book at the October 8th Junior Assembly, the money is due THIS WEEK. Money
can be turned in before and after school and all lunch periods this Wednesday, October 29 th, Thursday,
October 30th, and Friday, October 31st. Money should be turned in at the windows at the bottom of Stairwell
#3. Money turned in by October 31st will receive Prom Credit. Questions? See Ms. Vicino in Room 364.
Friday, October 31st, Hinsdale South Football will be traveling to Crystal Lake Central High School for Playoff
Game #1. The game starts at 7:00 PM. Please pick up a permission slip for the fan bus in the Athletic Office.

This coming Saturday, November 1st, our school will hold its annual ping pong tournament! Free t-shirts,
cash prizes, and lots of fun. There is no entry fee, no preregistration. Just come, play, and win. The

This week is Red Ribbon Week. Educate yourself about the problems that drug and alcohol abuse may cause.
Did you know that alcohol and drug abuse is the second leading cause of suicide? Or that alcohol
dependence is the strongest predictor of suicide? Suicide is not an easy topic to talk about, but it is
important to know the facts. Come to the Wellness Series’ discussion on Wednesday, November 5th during
9th period. Learn the facts about suicide and educate yourself. Sign up in the Social Work office, Room 245.
The deadline is Friday, October 31st. Be someone who makes someone look forward to tomorrow.

This week is Red Ribbon Week. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. In 2010, over
38,000 people completed suicide nationally. Please come and get educated about suicide on Wednesday,
November 5th during 9th period in the Little Theater. The Illinois past president of the American Foundation
for Suicide Prevention will be giving an important presentation on suicide. Suicide is a difficult topic to
discuss, but it is important to speak up and bring awareness to the subject. Sign up in the Social Work office,
Room 245. The deadline is Friday, October 31 st.

of Charlie Nodus, Roman Drabchuk, Vicente Perez, Joe Eilbert, Chris Joseph, Tristan Ramirez, and Matt
Daniel, tied Downers South for 2nd, and Freshmen and JV teams were 3rd. Trevor Schauer was 2nd in the
freshman race, Tyler Gaytan was 2nd in the sophomore race, and Charlie Nodus was the individual varsity
champion! Will Hogan, JR Rickert, Brian Jordan, Roman Drabchuk, and Vicente Perez were all top 16 in their
respective divisions. The Regional Meet is Saturday at Marmion Academy in Aurora.

famous deaf rapper. He started out making music videos in his basement and has now moved on to his own
tours around the world. Sean isn’t afraid to speak his mind and represent the deaf community.

Marlee Matlin is? She is the only deaf American actress to win the Academy Award for 'Best Actress.’ Today,

Lapin Agile by Steve Martin. Steve Martin, actor and comedian, wrote this very smart but fun one act
comedy, and it premiered at Steppenwolf Theatre in the late 90s. The show premise revolves around a
fictional meeting between Picasso, Einstein, and Elvis in Paris before they all became famous. Come out and
audition on October 20th and October 21st from 3 PM until 6 PM in the auditorium. Attending both days is

Although the musical was just last week, plans are already in the works for the next show, Picasso at the
Lapin Agile by Steve Martin. Steve Martin, actor and comedian, wrote this very smart but fun one act
comedy, and it premiered at Steppenwolf Theatre in the late 90s. The show premise revolves around a
fictional meeting between Picasso, Einstein, and Elvis in Paris before they all became famous. Come out and
audition on October 20th and October 21st from 3 PM until 6 PM in the auditorium. Attending both days is
heavily suggested. All are welcome to audition. Questions? See Mr. Kostro in Room 261.
Attention Sophomores and Juniors interested in attending the Technology Center of DuPage: You can attend
the Explore TCD Field Trip on November 13 th. If you are interested, pick up your TCD form and your
permission slip in the Counseling office as soon as possible. All forms must be turned in by October 24th. See
Mrs. Jacobson in the Counseling Office if you have any questions.
Attention all Yarning for a Cause Club members! There will be a meeting on Wednesday, October 22nd
immediately after school. Be sure to bring your project with. Information about the upcoming Special
Olympics project will be discussed. As always, bring a friend or two along to learn how to knit and crochet.
Spanish Club is meeting Wednesday, October 22nd. Please not the date change. Come to Room 359 after
school to make a Day of the Dead craft. Spanish Club will also be voting for club leaders.
The Archery Club will meet Monday, October 27th at 3:15 PM in the East Balcony. Please see Mr. Rocco if
you have any questions.
Financial Aid Night will be held Wednesday, October 22nd in the school auditorium at 7:00 PM. Come learn
about ways to save on college tuition, college scholarship and grants, student loans, and much more. Learn
from Mr. Frank Palmasani, college cost mentor, about these very important subjects!
This week, Hinsdale South is celebrating Deaf Awareness Week. There will be t-shirts, cookies and buttons
for sale outside the cafeteria during all lunch periods Tuesday through Thursday. Stop by and get your ASL
on! Do you know who Matt Hamill is? Known as “The Hammer,” he is a deaf UFC fighter who fought for 7
years with an amazing career record of 10-5. Matt is a 3-time, national champion. Unfortunately, he retired
this year due to a major injury.
