Chances of light rainfall on 29th & 30th of October. Wind will blow slightly above its normal speed by 5 km/hr. Maximum temperature shall range between 23 to 26 oC whereas minimum temperature shall range between 07 to 08 oC. The relative humidity during morning will be 80 - 90 % and during afternoon may range between 50 - 60 %. Agro meteorological Advisory Advisory for coming 5 days: Chances of light rainfall on 29th & 30th of October. Postpone all intercultural and weed control operations on 29th & 30th of October. Crop Stage Wheat Sowing Insect pest/ Agro meteorological advisory Diseases & other operations - Sowing of wheat varieties VL-738 and PBW-175 under the rainfed conditions and VL-738, VL-804, HS-240 for both irrigated and rainfed areas are recommended for Intermediate lower zone. Disease Management Barley Sowing Disease Management - For Intermediate higher zone sowing of varieties HD-1553, HS-277, HS-240, VL- 616 & SKW-196 are recommended. - Treat the seed with carboxin (Vitavax), carbendazim (2g/kg seed) or tebuconazole (1.25g/kg seed) for managing the seed borne diseases like loose smut, flag smut, hill bunt, Karnal bunt and leaf blight. - Sowing of Barley varieties Ratna, Jyoti and Sonu can be taken up in Intermediate lower zone and Intermediate higher zone. - Treat the seed with captan or thiram @3g/kg seed for leaf blight, flag smut and covered smut and with carbendazim or carboxin @ 2g/kg seed for loose smut and covered smut. Sow varieties Kent and Sabzar under Intermediate lower zone and Intermediate higher zone. Sowing - Toria Vegetative - Give one weeding and hoeing. Apply first irrigation to one month old crop. The toria crop which at present has attained about one month age should be top dressed using nitrogen i.e.@15kg/ha when the soil is at optimum moisture. Mustard Sowing - Sowing of Kranti, RLM 514, RLM 619, Varuna and RH 30 is recommended in Intermediate lower zone. - Apply Fluchloralin @ 0.70 kg a.i./ha as Pre plant incorporation (PPI) or Pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg a.i./ha (pre-emergence) dissolved in 500-600 during non rainy day for effective control annual grasses and broad leaved weeds in mustard. - Advised sowing/transplanting of cauliflower (Pusa Synthetic, Giant Snowball, Punam, Pusa Hybrid-2 and NS-60), cabbage (Golden Acre, Pride of India and Pusa Mukta) and knoll- khol (White Vienna, Purple Vienna and King of Market) in intermediate lower zone of the region. - In Intermediate higher zone sowing of radish (Japanese White, Pusa Reshmi & Pusa Himani). Transplanting of knolkhol (White Vienna, Purple Vienna & King of Market) is advised. - Do timely weeding in all vegetable crops for good yield. - Sowing of pea varieties (T-163, PG-2 and Rachna) is recommended. Sowing of gram (C-235, Gaurav, K-468, SCS-3 and PBG-1) is recommended. Sowing of lentil (L-9/12 and PL-406) is recommended. Oat Oilseed Crops Weed Control Vegetable Crops Rabi pulses Sowing & Transplanting Sowing - Treat the seed with captan or thiram (3g/kg seed) for the management of collar /root rot, rust and wilt in pea, chick pea and lentil. Inoculate with Rhizobium culture (200-250g/acre) before sowing. Harvesting & Lay out - Farmers are advised for harvesting of delicious cultivars of apple in Intermediate higher zone. Collect diseased fallen fruits for destruction by burning of the same as advance measures for control of scab and other diseases. Lay out for establishing new apple orchards are advised. Stone fruits Lay out - Advised lay out for establishment of new orchards of stone fruits (peach, plum and apricot) in Intermediate lower and higher zone. Almond, Walnut & Pecan nut Lay out - Advised lay out for establishment of new orchards in Intermediate higher zone. - Keep the basins of the plants free from weeds. While doing weed eradication it is very important to be careful that plant roots are not injured in anyway. - Farmers can go for transplanting of winter annuals and marigold in beds when they attain four-leaf stage. Disease Management Horticulture Apple Weed Control Floriculture Winter annuals & marigold Transplanting Fodder Sowing - Farmers are recommended to go for sowing of berseem (var. Mescavi, Pusa Giant, BL-1 and Vardan). Use 25-30 kg seed per hectare.Mix one kg of mustard with berseem in order to increase the quantity of fodder during first cut. Mushroom Casing - After one week of casing, bring down the cropping room temperature to 13+ 20 C to initiate fruiting, give frequent air circulation during fruiting. Apiculture Care - Protect the bees from the birds by scaring. Advised to give artificial food to honeybees. For protection of ants put the legs of apiary into water so that ants could not attack apiary. Live stock (Dairy animals & sheep and goats) Poultry Care - Avoid moldy feed and fodder to animals. Clean the cowshed with phenyle other wise it causes mastitis disease to animals. Care/Feed supplement - The poultry shed should be dry & clean and ensure drinking water to the birds. Ensure proper space for egg laying of birds Normal feeding schedule should be continued and add protein, minerals and vitamins in the diet if stress is seen. - AMFU, RARS Rajouri
