Jewellery Sale
CTK Refugee Committee is hosting a parish jewellery sale in
early December.
To prepare we ask two things:
• Parishioners, extended family members and friends to
donate items of jewellery that are in good condition.
• Volunteers to sort and display the donated items.
Striped blue and white Jewellery collection boxes are in the
church foyer. Simply place your donation of jewellery into the
boxes.
All jewellery sales will help raise funds for bringing in our
refugee families who at present are fleeing ISIS and the
devastation of war in Syria.
Thank you for your support and please contact Sue @
250-334-4984 to help make a difference!
Heritage Society Meeting
Christ the King Church Heritage Society will hold its
monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 29th at 9:45 a.m. in

preserving and cataloguing the materials that make up the
history of our parish.
If you are new to the area and have an interest in history, we welcome you to join us and find out what we do. For more
information contact Margaret at 250 334-3938. Bishop Gary Gordon and the Diocese of Victoria is
pleased to announce that the Ordination to the
Priesthood of Deacon Harrison Ayre will be
held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St.
Andrew’s Cathedral in Victoria. Kindly please remember
the intentions of Deacon Harrison in your prayers, as he
prepares to celebrate this joyous occasion.

Appeal News
This past week many of you will have received a
letter from the Bishop in the mail. For those who
are not on the parish database you will have an opportunity
to pick up the Bishop’s letter on the table in the foyer. The
Bishop’s letter will be self-explanatory. Many of us would
prefer that we not have appeals but since most Catholics do
not tithe they are necessary to the financial well-being both
on a diocesan level and on a parish level. As you receive the
information over the next week, please be as generous as
your situation allows. Please keep the appeal in your prayers.
Your pledge to the Appeal truly benefits our parish mission
project “A Clean Water system project for a Village in Honduras.”
and also the ministries and programs throughout Vancouver
Island and our surrounding islands. By now all households
should have received information and a request for support of
the Appeal. When you have made your decision, please return
your pledge envelope to the parish or mail your pledge gift
directly to the Diocese. Please give generous consideration
towards our Appeal and know that you can truly make a
difference.
Please consider pledging to this worthwhile endeavour. Our
parish goal towards this Appeal is $81,000. (20% of the parish
goal comes back to the parish. Once we reach our goal 80%
comes back to the parish. When we reach 200% of our goal, then
100% is given to the parish.) Along with supporting our
Diocese there is also an opportunity to support our parish
water project.
Diocesan Mass of Remembrance
A Diocesan Mass, with Bishop Gary Gordon presiding, will be
celebrated at the Cathedral on Friday, Nov. 14th at 12 noon
for all deceased priests, bishops and religious of the diocese. A reception will follow. Kindly remember in your prayers
those who have laboured for the Church in the Diocese of
Victoria and pray that the Lord will send dedicated men and
women to continue their work. Thank you to those who donated, baked, purchased,
volunteered and attended the CWL Fall Bazaar this past
weekend. It was a wonderful success!
- The CWL Ladies
Ministry of Lectors Workshop
A “refresher” workshop will be held on
Saturday, November 29th at 1 p.m. in the
Church. This Workshop is for ALL Lectors –
new and not-so-new. It is important that we
meet occasionally to go over our guidelines and
to be sure everyone is on the same page. Our Christmas
schedule will also be discussed at this time. Please plan to
attend! More info? Contact Denise at 250-339-1807 or email
[email protected].
