A huge thank-you to all the amazing volunteers and Christ the King staff that helped put together our mail-out to 23,000 households in the Comox Valley to support L'Arche's I Belong! campaign. Their dedication, drive, organization and great spirits created a great atmosphere of fun to enjoy the effort of folding and stuffing all those envelopes. A great team effort! The CTK Refugee Committee would like to Thank all who donated to our refugee family, the Darwish’s. The family is still in Algeria and their application has been approved by the Canadian Government! Now the UN will contact the Darwish family and the Paris Visa Office will complete the process. Yasser Darwish wishes to express his deepest gratitude to all who are helping him and his family. He shared with me that this is a second chance at his long-time dream of leaving Syria. His first attempt was around the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US. While they wait Yasser is teaching his wife and daughters how to speak English so they can communicate with us when they arrive. Please pray for their continued safety in Algeria. CTK Refugee Committee will continue to accept jewelry as we will have a sale at the World Community Film Festival at the Sid Williams, Feb 7th, 2015. 2015 Parish Offering Envelopes The 2015 Parish Offering Envelopes are available for pick up in the foyer. If you do not currently have a set and would like to begin using envelopes, call the parish office or fill out the form on the table near the envelope sets. Offertory envelopes are beneficial if you make weekly contributions to the parish. Parish envelopes are necessary if you wish to receive an income tax receipt. PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY ENVELOPES FROM PAST YEAR’S. Since we have re-numbered some sets, if you use a set from a prior year, it may have been re-issued and you will not get credit for your donation. Thank you. 2014 Taxation year All parishioners are reminded that anyone wishing to have donations “count” for the 2014 taxation year MUST have all donations into the parish by Saturday, December 27th or Sunday, December 28th. This is to comply with Canadian taxation laws which require that all funds be deposited into our bank account by December 31st, 2014. Dear Friends, Welcome to the last Sunday of Advent. We have journeyed through this season to “Prepare the Way for the Lord.” I hope you had a good Advent experiencing deeply God’s presence in your personal and family life. This week we are about to celebrate the Incarnation of Christ. God made himself visible in our flesh taking upon himself not only “flesh” but all the struggles of humanity. He walks with us into whatever we walk. These last few busy days before Christmas, we want to ask one question: “What can I do for myself and others to truly welcome Christ.” As you may have noticed, we are having a new room constructed next to the old elevator. Since the library is not sound proof, and privacy is compromised, now we will have a place to meet. I was asked about the purpose of door windows, they are a requirement of the Diocesan Policy of Responsible Ministry and Safe Environment. There is a second new room on the ground level (the lower part of the old staircase) that will be used for the Senior Youth Meetings. The next - I hope the last - project will start after Christmas. The entrance will be widened and a double door will be installed. The parking lot lights were also replaced with Save On lighting. This way we save a 1000 W/night. I hope we will stop going over the hydro limit and stop paying additional $380.00. The position of the Youth, Children/Family Worker will be posted again in the New Year. I wish you and your family many blessings, Fr. Marek Parish New Year’s Dance Come Out and Celebrate 2015!
