nine weeks. They will then be transferred to the
permanent parish necrology, also known as the
Book of the Dead. Mass Intentions for loved ones

Bethlehem Wood Carving
Our friend Louie from the Holy Land will be at
SVdP on November 1 and 2 after all Holy Masses.
Everyone is invited to check out the beautiful olive wood
religious items. Christians in Bethlehem have supported
their families for many years by selling these beautiful
works. They face many challenges due to the terrible
situation there and from the lack of pilgrims visiting the
holy land. These hardship have caused families to flee in
search of income to feed their families. This art work gives
Christians in Bethlehem a chance to survive. In 1982,
Catholic Christians made up 18% of the population in the
holy land. Now they number only 2%, and their future is of
great concern. Your generosity toward theses hard-working
Catholics will help to protect the holy site and to insure
future generations of a Catholic presence in the holy land.
All Souls Novena
The All Souls Novena will begin on Saturday, November 1,
at the 4:00 p.m. Holy Mass and will continue for nine
Holy Masses, through Saturday, November 8, at the 6:00
p.m. Holy Mass. If you would like to have a loved one
remembered during the Novena, please pick up an envelope
in the Narthex, fill it out, and return it to the parish office.

yourself, or for loved ones who are sick, or who
have special intentions, please list their name in
the Book of Petitions located on the table across
from Fr. Adrian’s office. Prayer intentions will be

need and to assist with modest presents this Christmas. Due to the generosity of the St. Vincent de Paul
Society and their assistance within the Paulding
County Community at large, we will provide
assistance to parishioners only. If you need help this
Christmas or you know of a parishioner or parish

Month, we must remember to accompany the
teaching on the morality of abortion with the clear
message that the Church offers hope and healing
for those experiencing emotional and spiritual
wounds after an abortion. The archdiocesan Project

New Request for Action
Family Detention Centers
Many women and children
crossing the southern border deserve
refugee status because of the violence in their
homeland. Until their status can be determined,
they are being kept in detention centers in
several parts of the United States.
Representatives of the Catholic Bishops of the
United States have visited these detention
centers and characterize them as inhumane,
expensive, wasteful, and contrary to American
values.

Justice for Immigrants campaign, are asking us
to contact President Obama and urge him to
stop the extension of these detention centers
and implement community based alternatives.

The Women’s Guild Care Calendar
As our parish grows, there is an increasing need to
provide families with meals during illness or life
changing events. In an effort to better coordinate the
planning of such assistance, the Women’s Altar Rosary
Guild will be utilizing carecalendar.org. Currently, the
Donovan family has an immediate need. If you would
like to help by providing a meal for the Donovan

there you can sign up for the day(s) that will be

Advance Directive for Health Care
It’s something that we like to avoid thinking about, but
end-of-life health care decisions are important.
Families might not know what their loved one would
want done in a particular health care emergency;
doctors, not trained in Catholic teaching, might end up
making medical decisions that a person doesn’t want;
families might have to wrestle with who makes the
final health care decision. Georgia provides an answer
to these difficult issues with an Advance Directive for
Health Care (ADHC). An ADHC tells families and
physicians the health care decisions a patient wants
during incapacity, and it provides for the appointment
of a health care agent to help make any other medical
decisions. It is a legal document, and as such carries the
weight of the law. Filling out the ADHC can be a
daunting task. However, St. Vincent de Paul
parishioners are here to provide free help. If you would
like more information on ADHCs or would like help
with filling out an ADHC, please e-mail

Solemnity of All Saints
All Saints Day Holy Mass will be celebrated on
November 1, at 12 noon. Children are invited to dress
as their favorite saint and process in at the beginning of
the All Saints Day Holy Mass. All children wishing to
participate should arrive in the narthex by 11:45 a.m.
An All Saints Day party will follow Holy Mass in
Simpson Hall. Since it is going to be lunchtime, we ask
that you bring a food dish to share. We will supply the
drinks and treats. A sign-up sheet for ministry
volunteers is posted on the ministry bulletin board.

a church setting and knowledge of the Catholic Faith,
experience in ParishSoft and a working knowledge of
sacramental guidelines are highly desirable.
Candidates should be courteous, pleasant and enjoy
communicating with callers, visitors and staff. A
cooperative, willing to pitch-in and get the job done

Election Prayer for Life
O God, we acknowledge you today as Lord, not only of
individuals, but of nations and governments. We thank you for the
privilege of being able to organize ourselves politically, and of
knowing that political loyalty does not have to mean disloyalty to
you. We thank you for your law, which our Founding Fathers
acknowledged and recognized as higher than any human law. We
thank you for the opportunity that this election year puts before us,
to exercise our solemn duty not only to vote, but to influence
countless others to vote, and to vote correctly. Lord, we pray that
your people may be awakened. Let them realize that while politics
is not their salvation, their response to you requires that they be
politically active. Awaken your people to know that they are not
called to be a sect fleeing the world, but rather a community of
faith renewing the world. Awaken them to know that the same
hands lifted up to you in prayer are the hands that pull the lever in
the voting booth; that the same eyes that read your Word are the
eyes that read the names on the ballot, and that they do not cease to
be Christians when they enter the voting booth. Awaken your
people to a commitment to justice, to the sanctity of marriage and
the family, to the dignity of each individual human life, and to the
truth that human rights begin when human lives begin, and not one
moment later. Lord, we rejoice today that we are citizens of your
kingdom. May that make us all the more committed to being
faithful citizens on earth. We ask this through Jesus Christ

33-Days to Morning Glory
Looking for the quickest, surest, and easiest way to
holiness, but don’t know where to begin? In our hectic
time, St. Pope John Paul II and Blessed Mother Teresa
knew that the quickest way to be transformed into a
saint is through a relationship with Our Blessed Mother
Mary. Join us on November 2nd as we begin a 33-Day
preparation for Marian Consecration. For six weeks we
will reflect on four great Marian saints who will teach
us the secret to drawing closer to the Heart of Jesus
through the Heart of Mary. Weekly meetings will be on
Sunday nights from 6:15 - 8:15 p.m. in Room 6. We
will share insights with our small group and watch
a video by Fr. Michael Gaitley. Cost is $30 for
