With over 240 people present the hall was filled to capacity. Matt Palmer was an inspirational guest speaker. He shared with us his journey which started with making the goal at an early age, to represent New Zealand. He talked about the need to work hard and that there will be setbacks along the way, that makes it even more important to focus on your goal and passion. Matt represented New Zealand at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and although he didn’t achieve a medal placing he felt immense pride in achieving the goal he set for himself. Before his speech, the audience moved to the gymnasium where they were treated to a brilliant exhibition on the rings by both Matt and Year 8 student Travis Swan. The Colour Awards were the elite awards for the evening and we congratulate those students on their fantastic achievements. These awards require outstanding achievement over a sustained period of time, reflecting the hard work and commitment of the students. Congratulations to our Colour Award recipients for 2014.
