Dear newspaper carrier
Posti sent you a letter offering work for metropolitan basic delivery during the newspaper delivery
strike.
All work belonging to the strike is banned, i.e. you must not accept work in other working
units of Posti under strike.
In addition to newspaper delivery (Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen and Uusimaa/Southern
Finland) on strike 20.11., 21.11., 23.11.,24.11. and 25.11 are:






Basic/Mail Delivery of Helsinki
Postal Center of Helsinki and Foreign Operations
Siipitie Foreign Operations and Pricing Service
Vantaa Logistics Center and Foreign Operations
Helsinki Veturitie Terminal
Lieto Logistics Center and Terminal
Basic/Mail Delivery of Espoo and Vantaa are not on strike. If you accept work there from employer
Posti during the strike, PAU won’t pay you strike allowance, as you won’t have loss of income.
Neither will PAU pay strike allowance, if an employee on strike at the same time works for some
other working unit of Posti.
Posti is still pursuing to remove from newspaper carriers the night shift allowance of 30 per
cent and replace it with 0.65 euros night increase per hour. This would mean a significant
drop of wages of newspaper carriers. Depending on delivery route this means a reduction
of 15 – 25 per cent! The employer also wants to remove all optimization guarantees from
those who have them! This adds remarkably to reduction on reduced salaries above. Posti
also wants to remove shared employees’ additional work compensation of 20 per cent on
hourly pay.
It is most essential that all newspaper carriers participate in the strike and don’t accept work belonging to the strike. By working during the strike an employee accepts all the drops of wages and
deteriorations that Employer Posti demands at the moment.
