ICT Trainer (x2) INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES (ICTS) We invite applications from experienced IT trainers for the above permanent posts for appointment as soon as possible. Reporting to the Training and Communications manager in the Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS) department, the successful candidates for the position will be responsible for a) providing end-user IT training to staff and students at the University of Cape Town, b) selecting training methods best suited to the user, c) developing courses and training material as per project or custom requirements. Minimum qualifications: Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) with relevant training or teaching qualification with appropriate experience, e.g. CompTIA certified technical training certification (CTT+), Microsoft Certified Educator, or other training qualification. Advanced knowledge and proven ability in recent versions of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint) Minimum experience: End-user training (at least 4 years) Development of course materials (1 year) Writing manuals/user instructions (1 year) Understanding of adult learning principles and how to apply them. Incorporation of different methodologies, i.e. blended learning, interactive, animation and video Experience in an IT environment, preferably in end-user support area (2 years) Responsibilities: Provide software application training using a wide variety of delivery methods, including classroom, web-based and on-site training to the UCT community. Find smart ways to promote the proficient use of software applications and systems used at or developed by UCT. Scope and develop new courses when new systems are developed or implemented at UCT. Write and maintain end-user training materials (exercises and guides). Provide needs analysis for, and develop and facilitate, customised training sessions as required by faculties and/or departments. Present information sessions on relevant ICT topics as identified by the Training co-ordinator. Participate in activities that promote and/or support other ICTS initiatives, e.g., Building Site Visits and Tech Fests. Keep up to date with the latest training techniques and trends. Coach and mentor other staff members to develop as trainers (in structured job shadow projects). Assist with the roll-out of mid- and end of year lab image updates. Participate fully in all train-the-trainer development opportunities. The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is between R 273662 and R321923 per annum.
