Parking for the High Desert Labrador Retriever Club w eekend is a privilege granted by our host,
Thousand Trails/Soledad Canyon Preserve. All parking w ill be at the direction of Thousand Trails
personnel. All regulations w ill be strictly enforced. All parking will be clearly m arked. Autos and vans
m ay park only as directed by Thousand Trails personnel. Unloading Zones w ill be provided. You
m ust leave your lights on, and m ay park for 15 m inutes m axim um , after w hich you w ill be subject
to tow ing and/or disciplinary action.
Day of show handicapped parking will be provided; how ever, set-ups in this area are prohibited.

*Chapter 11, Section 8 of the “Rules Applying to Dog Shows” provides that “a neutered male may be entered as a Veteran Dog in the
Veteran Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as a Veteran Bitch in the Veteran Bitch Class.”
**Hunting Dog and Hunting Bitch Classes are for those Labradors who have received a Junior, Senior and/or Master Hunting Title in an
AKC licensed or member Trial.
BEST OF BREED COM PETITION
The following categories of dogs may be en tered in this competition: Dogs that are C hampions of Record. Dogs which
according to their owners' records have completed the requirements for a championship but whos e championships are
unconfirmed. The showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from th e date
of show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owners' records.
JUDGES AW ARD OF M ERIT
The C lub offers an Award of M erit to deserving Labrador Retrievers for recognition of their quality . It is entirely at the
judge’s decision whether to give all or none of the available Awards. Award of M erits are selected from the Labrador
R etrievers in th e B est of Breed C ompetition, other than the Best of Breed and Best of Opposite winner. The number of
Awards is determined to be up to 10% of the Best of Breed entry.
NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING M ULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES
NOTE: As the judge’s decision in the Non-Regular Classes involving Multiple Dog Entries is based on the merits of more than
one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in these classes will be eligible to compete
for Best of Breed by virtue of having won these classes.
*ST U D D OG C LAS S - The Stud D og class is for stud dogs and two of their get. Stud Dogs must be en tered in the Stud
D og C las s and must be shown in the ring with their Get. Owner of the Stud D og need not be owner of the G et.
Awards will be based entirely on the merits of the get. Get must be entered in one of the Regular C lasses or Best
of Breed.
*BR OOD BITC H CLASS - Same as for the Stud Dog C lass, except substitute “Brood Bitch” for “Stud Dog” and “Produce”
for “Get.”

Trophies and Prizes (including cash prizes) will be awarded in the judging rings to the person exhibiting the dog, who will be considered
to be the owner or agent of the owner. All claims for trophies and other prizes must be made in the judging ring before the completion of
the judging of the breed, and the Event Secretary advised at once in the event of any discrepancy. No award will be mailed. If a trophy listed
is unavailable, a trophy of equal or greater value will be awarded.

4 – 6 M ONTH BEGINNER PUPPY COM PETITION
The com petition will be held during the lunch break on Saturday, Novem ber 8, 2014.
M ale and fem ale puppies four m onths and under six m onths w ill com pete together, w ith Best of Breed
and Best of Opposite Sex only being aw arded. All oth er puppies entered will receive a special healthy
treat for their enjoym ent (and to keep them occupied for a couple of hours).
Puppies are required to be vaccinated in accordance w ith their veterinarian's protocol in order to avoid
inadvertent transm ission of illness by/to puppies not yet fully im m unized. AKC Rules in Dealing w ith
M isconduct w ill be applicable to any person or dog entered at this com petition. All applicable rules found
in Rules Applying to Dog Show s w ill govern the conduct of this com petition unless these regulations state
otherw ise. Exhibitors should plan on opening the m outh of their puppy to show dentition for the judge to
avoid transm ission of illness. Breed standard disqualifications for dentition, and A K C disqualifications
for descended testicles shall not be a consideration in this com petition.
Our judge for the 4-6 M onth Beginner Puppy Com petition w ill be M rs. Barbara Nowak, 2742 W illow Glen
Dr., El Cajon, CA 92019. Entries w ill be accepted by the Show Secretary on the entry form included in
this prem ium list. Entry fee is $15.00. Entries w ill close on W ednesday, Oct. 22 at 6:00 PM at the hom e
of the Show Secretary.

JUNIOR SHOW M ANSHIP COM PETITION
OFFERED SUNDAY, NOVEM BER 09, 2014 ONLY
NOVICE CLASS: This shall be for boys and girls w ho are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on
the day of the show and w ho at the tim e entries close have not w on three (3) first place aw ards, w ith
com petition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or m em ber show .
OPEN CLASS: This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old
on the day of the show, and w ho have w on three first place aw ards in a Novice Class in a licensed
or m em ber show , with com petition present. The w inner of a Novice Class shall autom atically
becom e eligible, upon notice to the O pen Class ring stew ard, to enter and com pete in the Open
Class at the sam e show provided the win is the third (3rd) first place award with com petition and
further providing there are one or m ore Junior Handlers com peting in the Open Class.
M ASTER CLASS: This class w ill be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years
on the day of the show, and w ho have w on the 10 first place w ins in an Open class w ith com petition
to be eligible to enter the Lim ited Class Com petition. The calendar for this class w ill be Novem ber
1 - October 31 of the follow ing year. A ll Juniors m eeting the criteria for this class are required to
enter the M aster Class and m ay change their entry the day of the show if entries have already
closed. Once the eligibility tim e fram e for tha t year has passed all participants return to the Open
Class to com plete for the follow ing year.
Each dog handled in a regular J unior Showm anship Class m ust be entered in one of the Breed or
Obedience Classes at the show, or m ust be entered for Junior Showm anship only. How ever, a dog m ay
be substituted. Such substitution m ust be accom panied by an official AKC entry form . All such
substitution m ust be m ade one half-hour prior to the judging of any Junior Showm anship Classes at the
show . Each dog m ust be ow ned or co-ow ned by the Junior Handler or by the Junior Handler’s father,
m other, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, grandfather, grandm other, including step and half relations or by a
m em ber of the Junior Handler’s household. Every dog entered for Junior Show m anship m ust be eligible
to com pete in AKC Dog Show s or Obedience Trials. Bitches in season are not eligible to com pete.
Junior Handlers w ho win a third Novice Class, with com petition present, after the closing of entries
for a show m ay transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class provided that this transfer
is m ade by the Superintendent or Event Secretary at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of
any regular conform ation judging or one half-hour prior to the start of Junior Showm anship judging at the
show , whichever is earlier.
W inning of first place in an Open Class at this show m ay qualify or count tow ard qualification for
entry in certain future lim ited J unior Show m anship Classes. For inform ation on eligibility requirem ents
for lim ited Junior Showm anship Classes, w hich have been approved to date by AKC, w rite to the

RV Space RENTAL per space is $32 per night. A lim ited num ber of spaces w ill be set aside in the area
c lo sest to the show , and w ill be given first com e, first served upon your arrival at the cam pground. B e
sure to tell the guard at the gate that you are w ith the Lab Club so that they direct you to the right area.

Parking is a privilege extended by the Thousand Trails S oledad Canyon and w ill be perm anently
w ithdraw n from those exhibitors w ho do not follow the rules, regulations or instructions of the cam p
ground, or the show com m ittee.
Rudeness or abusive language w ill not be tolerated. All autom obiles m ust be parked w ithin assigned
spaces.
Im proper discharge of grey w ater or sanitary tanks will not be perm itted. Exhibitors will be responsible
for cleanup of their parking spaces. Trash containers will be m ade available, but you are responsible
for proper disposal of trash and waste.

GENERAL INFORM ATION AND SHOW RULES
1. Entries must reach the Event Secretary, Sharon Licciardi, 38513 12 t h Street, E., Palmdale, CA 93550 by 6:00pm (PDT), Wednesday, October
22, 2014. Fees must accompany entries. This club and/or its event secretary assumes no responsibility for wrong or incomplete information
given on the entry blank by the owner or agent of the owner. This club and its event secretary assume no responsibility for the owner or
owner’s agents entering a dog in a class in which the dog is not eligible to compete, or for entering the same dog twice.
2. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Secretary will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent
returned checks for the same exhibitors may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis. The returned check must be made good by
cash or money order before the dog will be allowed in the ring.
3. Exhibitors’ confirmation slips and judging programs will be mailed to the address given on the entry blank. If not received within a reasonable
time prior to the show, notify the secretary. Confirmation slips and judging programs returned by the Post Office marked ‘undeliverable’
will be held by the Secretary.
4. During the hours of judging owners are to be on call, and have their dogs ready to bring into the judging ring promptly, in order that the judging
will not be delayed. Dogs need only be present for their judging. Dogs not needed for further judging may be excused. It is the responsibility
of the exhibitor to have his dog ready to be shown and at the entrance of the judging ring when the steward calls for the class. Owners
of dogs or th e handlers of the dogs alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. This means it is not the
responsibility of the ring steward, nor of any agent of the show-giving club to locate any dog, its owner or handler, when the dog’s presence
is needed in a judging ring. It should be understood by every exhibitor and handler that waiting for dogs to be brought into the ring is a
courtesy extended to the owner or handler of the dog. There is no rule of this club nor of The AKC that requires a judge to wait for an owner
or handler to bring his dog into the ring. Show hours 7am-6 pm.
5. Trophies and prizes will be awarded in the judging rings to the person exhibiting the dog, who is considered to be the owner or agent of the
owner. All claims for trophies and prizes must be made in the judging ring before the completion of judging the breed. Notify the secretary
of any discrepancy. No trophies or prizes will be mailed.
6. Exhibitors are admonished to make themselves familiar with the agreement of the American Kennel Club, referred to on the reverse side of
the entry blanks that accompany this premium list. Rule books are available at the Secretary’s table at the show or may be obtained from
the AKC,5580 Centerview Dr., Raleigh, NC 27606.
7. It is distinctly understood that every dog at this show is in the care and custody and control of his owner or handler during the entire time the
dog is on the show premises.
8. No grooming tables, pens or exhibitors setups will be allowed in the aisles and all grooming must be done away from the judging ring in areas
specified by the club.
9. Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, lame, excused by veterinarian or judge, barred from
competition by action of the Bench Show Committee, or because the dog is ineligible to compete due to being entered incorrectly. There
is no refund of entry fee for duplicate entry.
10. There is no provision offered for un-entered dogs at this show.
11. Declination of Entries. The Club may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease,
viciousness or other causes, and no one shall have any claim or recourse against the Kennel Club or any official thereof.
12. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no
refund of entry will be made.
13. Do not leave any dogs in closed vehicles. All persons attending this dog show hereby waive any claim for damages against the High Desert
Labrador Retriever Club of CA., Inc, its members or agents, in the event a motor vehicle must be entered to rescue a dog from overheating
or suffocation due to improper ventilation.
14. A Recording Fee of 50¢ and an Event Service Fee of $3.00 per entry will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club
Show, Obedience Trial or Tracking Test. These Fees are to be collected by the Show-giving Club and paid to the AKC. If a dog is entered
in more than one class at the show, the Recording Fee are to be collected on the first entry only (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11,
Section 2).
15. Dogs which according to their owners’ records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for the show
but whose championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed Competition, provided
this transfer is made to the Show Secretary at least one half hour prior to the start of the earliest Conformation judging at the Show.
16. Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class after the Closing of entries for a show may transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open
Class provided that this transfer is made to the Show Secretary at least one half-hour prio r to the scheduled start of the earliest
conformation judging or one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the Show, whichever is earlier.
17. Dogs which according to their owners’ records have earned an obedience or rally title after the closing of entries for the show may be moved
up to the next class, provided this transfer is made in writing and presented to the Secretary at least 30 minutes prior to the start of each
trial. Move-ups may be approved, provided the next level class (i.e. novice to open) and judge are available and the class has not reached
its limit.
18. The Club reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
19. There shall be no drilling nor intensive or corrective training of dogs on the show grounds or premises.
20. All dogs shall be kept on leash except when in the obedience or exercising ring or confined in crates.
21. The welfare of an exhibitor’s child is assumed to be the responsibility of the exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that exhibitors will exercise
control and restraint over their children on the day of the show.

limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship.

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person wh o actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a

entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration

3. (Event C lass) C onsult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering y ou r dog is
divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering
your dog, i.e, age division, color division, weight division.
4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person wh o actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a
registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new own er in an y ev en t for which
entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration
certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his n ame. S tate on entry form whether transfer application has been
