Sandwich Sunday
The Sandwich Committee makes sandwiches for the
needy on the second Sunday of every month. The next
date is Sunday, November 9. Sandwiches can be
made in Gillin Hall after any Mass or they can be made in
advance and left in the refrigerator in the kitchen.
Sandwiches are donated to the Oliver Gospel Mission.

St. John Neumann Catholic School
The Month of the Rosary at SJN
To celebrate the month of the rosary, St. John Neumann students will participate in The Living Rosary on October 28th.
The students will gather in the school gym at 9:30, and led by
the sixth grade classes, will recite the beautiful prayers together. It will be a special time of prayer for the boys, girls,
and their teachers. If you have never seen this special prayer
service led by our student body, you are missing a truly wonderful and inspirational opportunity. We would love to have
you come and join us in our prayer offerings to God. If you
were unable to pray with us on this morning, please take time
to come by the school yourself and enjoy a moment of quiet
meditation in our beautiful Rosary Garden or participate in The
Living Rosary the students will host in the spring.
Our Reading Night was a big success. This year’s visit to the
Middle Ages brought out all of our knights and ladies, eager to
show off their reading prowess. The enthusiastic participation
from our SJN families made this one of our best reading activities ever! Thank you to all of you who came and purchased
books from our Book Fair to encourage reading in your own
families.
Students will be enjoying these beautiful fall days as school
will be closed for Parent Conferences on the evening of October 30 and all day on the 31st. Teachers and parents enjoy this
special time to share their children’s progress.
Big night coming up! Mark your calendars for November.
The 8th will be the annual SJN Auction Night. This will be
our 25th anniversary celebration so special activities are in
store. Be sure to come and share in the fun!

change up your workout routine? Start a workout routine?
We offer Tai Chi class Mondays and Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. in
Gillin Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend. The class is free.

workout routine? Start a workout routine? The Arthritis Exercise Class might be just what you are looking for. This class is
offered on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. in Gillin Hall.
The class involves a lot of stretching and can be done sitting or
standing or a combination of both. The class is free. For

The Parish Nurse is a Benefit Bank Counselor. This means
that she can do a “Quick Check” to see if you may be eligible
for extra help, from programs like food stamps (SNAP program), Medicaid, and other assistance programs. She can also
help you fill out the forms for these programs. Please call
Wendy at 413-4797 for questions or to make an appointment.

Clinic. When: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month.
Eligibility requirements: 1) Adult 18 yrs and older, 2) Live in
Richland or Fairfield Counties, 3)Under 200%
of the poverty level, 4) Proof of income, 5) Picture ID.
The Midlands Dental Initiative is now accepting uninsured
dental patients. It is their goal to reduce the number of dental
patients in the ER, so they have created a network of local
dentists that will perform emergency extractions to relieve
dental pain and discomfort at no charge to the patient. Patients
must be a resident of Richland, Lexington or Fairfield County,
meet low income requirements and have no dental insurance.

PLEASE DO NOT DOUBLE PARK IN THE UPPER
PARKING LOT. IT CAN DELAY LIFESAVING
TREATMENT. When there is an emergency at the
church, the Fire Department & Ambulance come to the
Upper Parking Lot. When people Double Park, or park at
the end of the rows where there are no parking lines
emergency vehicles cannot get in or out in a timely manner. If Emergency Vehicles are at the church, please
do not try to leave until after they are gone.
Ushers are needed for the Sunday 5:00 p.m. Mass in the
church. Please help by spending a few minutes on any
given weekend as an usher. No formal training is required —just a willingness to help with this important
and rewarding ministry. Ushers are asked to arrive 30
minutes before Mass and they do not need to serve every

World Priest Day
Please join Worldwide Marriage Encounter and The Family life office of the Diocese Of Charleston in celebrating
and affirming the men who commit their lives to the Lord
and the Church in the Sacrament of Holy Orders. Worldwide Marriage Encounter, concurrently with Serra Club’s
Priesthood Sunday, honors our priests on World Priest

2nd Annual Teddy Bear Project
Please support the St. John Neumann
Children's Liturgy in its efforts to help young
children in need. Last year’s Teddy Bear
Project was a wonderful success. Your support, once again, this year will be greatly appreciated.
What to Donate: The project is collecting toys, books, stuffed
animals, etc. These may be new or gently used (items your children no longer use).
Where to Donate: Please put donations in the box in Gillin
Hall labeled Children's Liturgy Teddy Bear Project.
This project will last through November 9. All toys collected
will be donated to Carolina Children’s Home Counselor Center, The Ronald McDonald House, and Richland County Sheriff Department.
Thank you for helping demonstrate the value of sharing with the
children of the parish.
