Field course in Fennoscandian bedrock geology

Field course in Fennoscandian bedrock geology
Aug 31 – Sept 12, 2015
This biannual course is part of the new line of specialisation in geology, ”Evolution of
the Fennoscandian bedrock” at the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi, Turku,
Finland.
The course in full is aimed at the students of Turku and Åbo Akademi Universities.
The course includes an SGA -sponsored seminar at Luleå University of Technology, Sept
7-8. The seminar comprises two main topics, “Ore deposits of Northern Fennoscandia”
and “3/4D-modelling of ore deposits and districts” (detailed content given later). The
seminar costs 750 EUR/day for industrial delegates. Students have free registration.
Ten (10) SGA students will be allowed to participate on the pre-seminar mapping
exercises in the Nautanen area, Sweden, Sept 3-5 and the post-seminar excursion in
through the Peräpohja Belt, Finland, Sept 9. There is no registration fee for the pre- and
post-seminar activities for the selected SGA students. However, the students are
expected to arrange the required transportation and accommodation during the
activities.
