Students who make a donation are encouraged to dress in as much pink as they have. However, no dyeing hair or face-painting is allowed! All proceeds will be going to the Kewanee OSF St. Luke’s Medical Center mammography department to help those in need. Chili Supper Thank you to all who helped in any way with the Chili & Soup Supper last night. It was another great success! Special thanks to Chad and Rosie Jackson and to Miriam Mock who did all the cooking. Thanks to Nate Nichols for setting up; to some of the Confirmation students for helping pick up trays; and to the St. Joseph and St. Francis Teams for serving and cleaning up. Reconciliation Fr. John will be discussing Reconciliation with students when he visits their classes in upcoming weeks. Students in grades 3-8 will then receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at some time during October or November. Starting in January, students in grades 3-8 will go to Reconciliation monthly. Page 2 of 2 VCS Newsletter Thank-you Volleyball Team The Visitation volleyball girls, along with their parents and coaches, . have been working hard to raise money for our new roof. Their “Meat Raffle,”—which was won by Toni Moraski (Kewanee)—totaled $585. They also hosted the First Annual Lady Giant Volleyball Tournament this past Saturday. They had a great showing with a second place finish behind undefeated Monmouth ICS. The tournament also earned nearly $1165, so the grand total donated to the roof from the volleyball team was $1750. Thank you Coach Julie Yepsen for spearheaded both of those events and to all others who helped make them such big success! Veteran’ Day Program The Visitation Veteran’s Day Program will be held Tuesday, Nov. 11th. We will be inviting veterans to join us for a short program and lunch. Part of last year’s program included a slide show. We would like to continue that this year. Please send pictures of relatives that have served or are serving in the military (in their uniform, if possible). It would be best if the pictures could be sent electronically to [email protected] If this is not an option, send the pictures to the school office to be scanned and sent home again. Pictures must be received by Wednesday, Nov. 5th if they are to be included as part of the program. Make sure the name of the soldier and who they are connected with here at Visitation. Example: “John Wilson—Suzy and Fred Wilson’s grandfather.” The more participation the better the program can be! ***If you sent your veteran’s picture last year, you DO NOT need to resend it.
