MFG can migrate either to a proprietary Exchange environment, or to a hosted Exchange service like Microsoft’s Office 365. MFG 4.5.1 is a minor release, with enhanced features and functionality. See Enhancements and Resolved issues. Enhancements Feature enhancements implemented in this release: Enhancement Issue ID The Admin-Driven Batch Migrator now migrates the Department, Title, Telephone and Fax Number fields when creating Office 365 target accounts. 281237 The Admin-Driven Batch Migrator can now optionally add a user to a group if the corresponding Contact is already a member of the group. This feature is enabled/disabled by a new boolean parameter in the [ActiveDirectory] section of gwmigapp.ini: [ActiveDirectory] MergeGrpMembership=0 The default (MergeGrpMembership=1) tells the program to add a user to a group if the corresponding Contact is a member of the group. The alternate setting (MergeGrpMembership=0) disables this feature. 319401 Dell Migrator for GroupWise to Exchange 4.5.1 Release Notes 1 MFG now migrates GroupWise resources with ownership intact, so the resource owners will have Full Access rights to the resources in Exchange. MFG also provides an option of conferring Calendar Delegate rights to the GroupWise owners of migrated resource mailboxes in Exchange, so the owners can book their resources and approve booking requests for other users. This option is controlled by a new boolean parameter in the [Exchange] section of gwmigapp.ini: [Exchange] MigrateResourceDelegation=1 The option is on (1) by default, but can be disabled by setting MigrateResourceDelegation=0. 241140 A new set of program parameters in the adobjmerge.ini file let you specify the Contact attribute(s) the AD Object Merge Tool will merge into the corresponding AD security object record. This occurs when the program merges the Contact into the object and deletes the Contact. You may define one or more Attr<#> parameters to specify one or multiple attributes whose data you want to carry into the merged object records. For example: [ActiveDirectory] Attr0=FirstAttributeName Attr1=SecondAttributeName Attr2=ThirdAttributeName The digit(s) appended to an Attr<#> key name differentiate one parameter from another. Multiple Attr<#> parameters need not appear in numerical order, but must in aggregate form an uninterrupted numerical sequence beginning with Attr0. 393409 The Admin-Driven Batch Migrator now provides a choice of whether to keep the Alias/Mailnickname stamped onto an object in AD when mailbox-enabling, or replace it with a value from GroupWise. The option is controlled by a new boolean program parameter in gwmigapp.ini: [ActiveDirectory] AlwaysUseOldAlias=1 372517 This example tells the program to keep the value set in AD. By default (AlwaysUseOldAlias=0) the program will let the MFG value overwrite the existing AD value. A pair of new program parameters provide configuration options for retries of failed connections between MFG's Admin-Driven Batch Migrator and Office 365’s EWS autodiscover. Some environments experience intermittent connection failures to O365. This new feature provides configurable, automatic retries to better handle connection issues that arise to the O365 EWS autodiscover service. In the [Exchange] section of gwmigapp.ini, the EwsRetryCount parameter sets the maximum number of times to retry, while EwsRetryWait sets the interval (in seconds) between retries. For example, the default values: 367257 EwsRetryCount=3 EwsRetryWait=30 ... tell the program to retry the connection a maximum of three times (in addition to the initial attempt) at 30-second intervals. If the errors persist through all retry attempts, the program will note the failure in the log, skip the current item, and move on to process the next item. Depending on the Log Level, the retry attempts may appear in the program logs with no other documented error or warning. MFG now lets you specify a particular number to use as the starting value for a series of Admin Account Pool accounts. The value is specified by a pair of new program parameters in gwmigapp.ini: 356393 [Exchange] AdminAcctPoolRoleGroupName=<GroupName> AdminAcctPoolFirstAccountSeq=<####> GroupName is the name of the group whose first number you want to assign, while #### is the number you want to assign to the first admin in the pool. For example: [Exchange] AdminAcctPoolRoleGroupName=DellMFGAdminGroup AdminAcctPoolFirstAccountSeq=2001 Defaults are: [Exchange] AdminAcctPoolRoleGroupName=GW Migrator Admins Role Group AdminAcctPoolFirstAccountSeq=1001 Dell Migrator for GroupWise to Exchange 4.5.1 Release Notes 2 A new program parameter lets an admin determine how long the Admin-Driven Batch Migrator will wait after setting admin permissions on an Office 365 mailbox before proceeding with the migration. The parameter, in gwmigapp.ini, allows you to specify a number of seconds the program will wait: [PowerShell] PropagationDelay=<##> 328310 For example, the default PropagationDelay=40 tells the program to wait 40 seconds before proceeding. This can be helpful in overcoming O365 Powershell-Exchange propagation delays. Document references attached to emails can now be migrated as copies of the documents, so the relative documents appear in recipients’ mailboxes after migration. This feature is enabled or disabled by a new boolean parameter in the [GroupWise] section of gwmigapp.ini: [GroupWise] MigrateAttachDocRefs=<#> The default MigrateAttachDocRefs=1 tells the program to migrate attached document references as copies of the documents. If disabled (MigrateAttachDocRefs=0), attached document references are not migrated.MFG's Admin-Driven Batch Migrator now supports migration to Office 365 by Admin Account Pooling when a user's primary target address in the user-list csv file matches the proxy address, but not the primary SMTP address 343795 Resolved issues Issues addressed in this release: Admin-Driven Batch Migrator resolved issues Resolved issue Issue ID Refined group provisioning process when provisioning from a local AD using Microsoft's DirSync during migrations to Office 365. 388680 The Admin-Driven Batch Migrator now preserves the [ActiveDirectory] CanAddGroupMembers=1 setting (in gwmigapp.ini) when migrating to Office 365 but not using Microsoft's DirSync to provision O365. (CanAddGroupMembers=1 allows the program to define new AD contacts for group members not found in AD and add the contacts as new members to the corresponding AD groups.) 385489 MFG now releases all admin accounts opened for the Admin Account Pool when a migration to Office 365 is canceled or otherwise interrupted. 380877 Tasks created by one user and assigned to another are now migrated to the assigned user's Tasks in Outlook. 380185 When migrating to Office 365, the Admin-Driven Batch Migrator (Prepare local AD accounts for MS DirSync feature) now defers mailbox creation to Microsoft's DirSync tool. 368779 Improved handling of messages sharing the same Subject but residing in different source folders, so they don't all appear in the same conversation view in Outlook. 349993 Preservation of users' access to migrated document-reference attachments when accessing using OWA 2013. 349091 More consistent handling of events from a GroupWise subcalendar for users with multiple source calendars. 347754 Improved fidelity of migrated document reference names within the Outlook or OWA attachments list. 345561 The MFG mail-forwarding feature again offers the choice of using internet addressing or a GWIA prefix. 345063 Improved handling of problematic data strings provides a more robust migration in some environments. 339678 The display name for a migrated GroupWise contact is now set in the format: User Name ([email protected]). This permits visual differentiation in the To field drop-down list when creating and sending new messages to migrated contacts with two or more email addresses. 337312 Dell Migrator for GroupWise to Exchange 4.5.1 Release Notes 3 A migrated meeting organizer can now use all organizer functions associated with a migrated meeting when the meeting includes a resource containing one or more space characters in its name. 335843 Refined process of generating user-notification messages explaining how to access shared content when migrating proxy rights. 315193 AD Object Merge Tool resolved issues Resolved issue Issue ID Improved handling of underscore characters ("_") within userPrincipalName or sAMAccountName by the AD Object Merge Tool when provisioning into Active Directory. 341227 Improvements to process timer (Elapsed time) in the AD Object Merge tool. 337084 Known issues Most of the known issues and limitations of any migration process are due to feature differences between the source and target environments. That is, features in the GroupWise environment simply cannot be migrated to a target environment that does not offer the same or comparable features. Other limitations are due to feature incompatibilities, where similar features are available in both the source and target environments, but their implementations are so different that the migration may be impractical. In any case, most administrators regard these sorts of limitations as trivial or incidental to an overall migration project. Dell distinguishes between known “issues” (listed here), which are believed to be temporary and likely to be resolved in a future release, and known “limitations,” which are believed to be inherent to the process and environmental architectures, and are likely permanent. Appendix A of the MFG Pre-Migration Planning Guide provides a list of all such known limitations of the migration process as facilitated by the current version of Dell's Migrator for GroupWise. The following is a list of issues, including those attributed to third-party products, known to exist at the time of this release. MFG also requires certain permissions and configurations in addition to these basic hardware and software requirements, as documented in the MFG Quick-Start Guide and Pre-Migration Planning Guide. GroupWise server(s) Supported GroupWise source environments (all ranges inclusive): Novell GroupWise version 6.0–7.0.4, or 8.0.0–8.0.3, or GroupWise 2012. Important: • Migration from a pre-2012 GroupWise source via a MFG migration server running Windows 7 or Win Server 2008 requires a source GroupWise version that supports a connection from a GroupWise 2012 client (which is required on a MFG migration server running on Windows 7 or Win Server 2008). • Dell’s CMG supports GroupWise versions 7.0.2–7.0.4 and 8.0.0– 8.0.3, and GroupWise 2012, but not versions 6.0–7.0.1. If you want to use CMG for coexistence, the source GroupWise server must be version 7.0.2–7.0.4 or 8.0.0–8.0.3, or GroupWise 2012. Dell Migrator for GroupWise to Exchange 4.5.1 Release Notes 5 Parallel workstations To accelerate large-scale migrations, MFG may be run on multiple migration servers running in parallel. Workstation hardware Must be a separate machine from the Exchange server, but a member of the same domain as AD and Exchange. May be a virtual machine, but a dedicated "actual" machine will likely yield better migration performance. Minimum hardware requirements: • 1+ GHz processor, 1GB memory, 20GB free disk space. Recommended for improved performance, especially for high-volume migrations: Required for all destination Exchange target types, including Office 365 • 3+ GHz processor, 2GB memory. • 1 Gbps NIC, and 1 Gbps or faster network connections among all migration servers and the Exchange and GroupWise servers. The Novell NetWare Administrator (NWAdmin or ConsoleOne) must be installed. MFG Directory Exporter has the same prerequisites as the NetWare Administrator. The Novell client for NetWare (client version 2 SP3 IR6 or IR9, or version 4.7 or higher, 4.91 SP2 recommended) must be installed. A GroupWise client (version 6.0–7.0.4 or 8.0.0–8.0.3 or GroupWise 2012) must be installed. Note: A GroupWise 2012 client is required if running Windows 7 or 8, or Win Server 2008 or 2012. Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010 or 2013 (32-bit ver only) must be installed. The Admin Account Pooling Utility requires Outlook 2013, 2010 or 2007 (not Outlook 2003). If migrating to Exchange 2013, Microsoft requires the Outlook client be one of these: Outlook 2013 (15.0.4420.1017) Outlook 2010 SP1 w/Nov 2012 update (14.0.6126.5000) Outlook 2007 SP3 w/Nov 2012 update (12.0.6665.5000) Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (available here) and Windows Management Framework 2.0 (available here) must both be installed. Also required for migration to Exchange 2013 or 2010, or Office 365 Windows PowerShell 4.0 or 2.0 (a component of Windows Management Framework, required as noted above). Also required for migration to Exchange 2007 Exchange 2007 RTM, SP1 or SP2 Management Tools (32-bit version, US English only), which in turn requires: Microsoft Management Console (MMC), and Windows PowerShell. The 32-bit version of Exchange 2007 Management Tools is available at this Microsoft link, and see also Microsoft’s installation instructions. Required for Admin Account Pooling feature (see Admin Guide chapter 14) MFG’s Account Pool Utility uses Microsoft Office 365 cmdlets to issue commands to Office 365, and these cmdlets must be installed before MFG can use account pooling. Note these requirements before you can install the cmdlets: • You can install the cmdlets on a Windows 7 or Wi ndows Server 2008 R2 computer. • Windows PowerShell 4.0 or 2.0, and.NET Framework 3.5.1 must be enabled. • You must install the MSOL Sign-in Assistant. Download and install either the 32-bit version or 64-bit version from the Microsoft Download Center. The upgrade installation and setup from a 4.x version are fully automated, and will preserve any data already migrated, so you may simply resume the migration process from wherever you left off with the previous version. Upgrading from MFG 3.x to 4.5.1 There is no direct upgrade path from MFG 3.x to MFG 4.5.1. To upgrade from 3.x to 4.5.1 you must: 1 Uninstall MFG 3.x. Use Windows’ Add/Remove Programs feature in the Control Panel. 2 Install MFG 4.5.1, as described below. This process will rebuild the MFG Address Translation Table, but the program’s configuration and .csv files are preserved. IMPORTANT: If upgrading from any version of this product earlier than 4.5, you must also contact a Dell Software sales representative to request a new license key, due to the product name change that became effective with version 4.5.0. Product licensing Dell Migrator for GroupWise is a metered-use product that requires the application of a valid license key. Dell sells license keys for particular numbers of users to be migrated. When the limit is reached the software continues to function nominally for users that have already been migrated, but will not migrate additional users. The same license is used for all product functions for a particular user. That is, when any feature of any MFG component is applied to a particular user, then all features of all components can be applied to the same user under the same license. Moreover, users can be re-migrated (if necessary) using the original license; remigration does not require an additional license. You can obtain your first or a subsequent license key by contacting a Dell Software sales representative. For either a trial or perpetual license, the key takes the form of a file GroupWiseMgrEX_4-###-#####.asc (where ###-##### represents your unique license number) attached to an email sent to you from Dell Licensing. The product will install without a license key, but will prompt you to apply a license key the first time you try to run the software. You will be prompted to find and specify the license key file that Dell provided. To install an MFG license key (or upgrade/extend an existing license key): 1 Copy to your Desktop, or to some other convenient location, the license file (GroupWiseMgrEX_4###-#####.asc) sent to you by email from Dell Licensing. 2 If you have not yet installed Dell Migrator for GroupWise, run the Setup program to install the software. 3 Once the software is installed, run the Admin-Driven Batch Migrator program. The Welcome screen shows any previously installed licenses. To install a new license (or upgrade/extend a previously installed license), click Update your license…. 4 In the License Update dialog box, use the Browse feature to locate and specify the Dell license file you want to install. Select the file in the list, and click OK. The program returns to the Welcome screen after you enter the new license information. Dell Migrator for GroupWise to Exchange 4.5.1 Release Notes 8 About Evaluation (or Trial) Licenses An Evaluation (or Trial) License is intended to let you try the MFG software in your own environment, with your own data, to help you determine whether MFG’s capabilities are suitable to your needs. Under an Evaluation/Trial license, therefore, the program stamps a "MIGRATION EVALUATION" prefix into the Subject of every migrated message, and also imposes these limitations: • Calendar items more than two weeks into the future are not migrated. • When migrating personal address books, only five contacts and five groups are migrated per PAB. Getting started with MFG 4.5.1 • Upgrade and installation instructions • Additional resources Upgrade and installation instructions To install Migrator for GroupWise: 1 Download the Migrator for GroupWise zip folder from the Dell.com website, and extract all files into an installation folder. Then run Autorun.exe from the installation folder. (You could instead insert an MFG product CD, which runs the Autorun utility automatically.) Windows then launches the Autorun utility, where you can browse product information including the Prerequisites and all MFG Documentation before installing the product. 2 Verify that your environment conforms to the System requirements specified above. Several of the required third-party components may be downloaded from links on the Autorun Prerequisites tab. 3 When you are ready to install, select the Autorun Install tab. 4 Select the Migrator for GroupWise product name, and click Next. 5 Review the Welcome screen, and click Next. 6 Follow the remaining instructions and prompts in the MFG Installer. NOTE: MFG includes a wizard for scanning the environment and determining whether it conforms to the system requirements for the MFG applications. The MFG Prerequisites Checker looks for required software and settings, connectivity, permissions, and access rights. The wizard can be launched automatically from the exit page of the MFG installer, by marking a checkbox before clicking the installer’s Finish button: Launch the Prerequisite Checker when setup exits: [ ] For On-premises Exchange Target. [ ] For Migration to Office 365. You may check either target option, or neither, but not both. Mark the appropriate checkbox if you want to run the wizard (recommended). If your migration server is configured with an antivirus product other than: System Center Endpoint Protection Avast! • AVG Antivirus • Symantec Antivirus ... see Specifying antivirus software for the MFG Prerequisites Checker in the MFG QuickStart Guide for information about how to specify an alternate antivirus checker. NOTE ALSO: The checker can also be run independently from your Windows Start menu, in the Dell Inc. | Dell Migrator for GroupWise group. The Prerequisites Checker log file is written to %SystemDrive%\ProgramData\Dell\. 7 Click Finish from the last screen to complete the installation. The MFG Installer then exits, and returns you to the Autorun utility, on the Install tab. If you have marked a Prerequisites Checker checkbox, that wizard now runs (in a separate window). 8 If you like, you may browse the other Autorun tabs.
