Revelation 7:9 - 17 9After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one
could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing
before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in
their hands, 10and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who
sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11And all the angels were standing around the
throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces
before the throne and worshiped God, 12saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and
wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and
ever! Amen.” 13Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed
in white robes, and from where have they come?” 14I said to him, “Sir, you know.”
And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have
washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 “Therefore they
are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who
sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. 16 They shall hunger no more,
neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. 17 For the
Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to
springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
1 John 3:1 - 3 1See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be
called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is
that it did not know him. 2Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be
has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him,
because we shall see him as he is. 3And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies
himself as he is pure.
Matthew 5:1 - 12 1Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat
down, his disciples came to him. 2And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:
3
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4“Blessed are
those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. 5“Blessed are the meek, for they shall
inherit the earth. 6“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they
shall be satisfied. 7“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. 8“Blessed
are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. 9“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they
shall be called sons of God. 10“Blessed are those who are persecuted for
righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11“Blessed are you when
others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on
my account. 12Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they
persecuted the prophets who were before you.

ABOUT HOLY COMMUNION/THE LORD’S SUPPER
Here at Zion Lutheran we believe that Christ’s true body and blood are received by
everyone in the Lord’s Supper (Real Presence). All that participate here believe the
same Biblical truths noted on the top cover of the Friendship booklet (Closed
Communion).
Visitors, please consult with Pastor Hendrickson or the Elder before receiving the
Lord’s Supper. Complete your preparation for Holy Communion by completing the
Friendship book by checking, “Communion”.
Only communicant members of Zion or one of our sister LCMS churches are invited
to receive the Communion elements. If you don't meet this criterion, you are invited
to come forward for a blessing by our pastor. Simply fold your hands across your
chest when the bread and the wine are distributed and our pastor will speak a blessing
over you. All children are invited to come forward for a blessing.
Our Communion practices are to have four adults (with children standing in front of
the adults) on each side of area in front of the chancel (Altar area) as our Pastor and
Elder are serving the elements. The Ushers are instructed to limit the communicants
to four. Inform the Usher if you desire NOT to be separated from someone and he'll
adjust the groupings of four accordingly.
PERSONAL SOUND RECEIVERS: If you have a hearing problem you may use
Zion’s Personal Sound Receivers that can be found on the bulletin stand.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER
It is true that God “sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous” without distinction
(Matthew 5:45), but He tells us that blessings come to those who share with others
(Acts20:35). He asks us to share our material blessings, our time, and our gifts. Most
importantly, God asks us to share His Word. “Feed my sheep” (John 21:17)

Pipe Organ Repair:
We have received $9,784 towards our goal of $20,000 make repairs to the pipe organ. We will not
proceed with the work until we have the funds to undertake the repairs. It is difficult to get on the
schedule for major work. We are on the schedule for January, however if by the end of October, the
balance of the funds are not received, we will notify the organ repair company and lose our
opportunity for repairing the instrument this year. A brief summary of the needed work includes
reconfiguring the layout to enable access for tuning and maintenance, repair chests, regulate wind
pressures, install properly sized blower motor, re-leather wind regulator and all tuning stoppers,
reconfigure winding of the organ, and completely clean and tune.

Free Thrivent Financial Social Security Workshop
Little Falls, MN (October 28, 2014) – Thrivent Financial is hosting a free educational workshop on
Social Security. It is designed for people trying to decide when, and how, to start taking their Social
Security benefit. Called “Social Security: Strategize to Maximize,” this one hour workshop will be
held at the Little Falls Senior Center at 510 7th St NE, Little Falls, MN. It will take place Tuesday,
November 4, 2014 at 3:00 pm. The workshop is being presented by Carlyle Olsen, Financial
Associate with Thrivent Financial. The workshop will help in navigating the overwhelming Social
Security retirement choices, such as: When should you apply? How much is taxable? What option is
right for me and my spouse? What will I lose, or gain, by taking my Social Security now vs. later?
As a result of this workshop, you will be better prepared to make a decision that you will live with
the rest of your life. Pre-registration is not required. For more information, contact Carlyle Olsen at
320-632-1655.
