Question 1 (150 Words or less):
Provide biographical information and
explain why you are running for Township
office and relevant qualities and skills you
would bring to the position.
Question 2 (150 Words or less):
What are the top 3 Priority Issues facing your
township and what actions would you, as a
township official, take regarding each of
them?
Lyon Township is at a crossroads, as the
demand for new development intersects
with the goals and responsibilities set forth
in our Master Plan. I seek to continue as a
Township Trustee because I have the
educational, professional, and civic
experience that uniquely qualifies me to
help guide the Township during the vital
years ahead. I have a degree in Urban
Planning from MSU and have spent the past
15 years focused professionally on the
development of growing communities and
municipal planning. As the Planning
Director in White Lake Township (11 years)
and as a member of the Lyon Township
Planning Commission (7 years), I have
guided commercial and residential
development, while administering budgets
annually. My wife Stephanie, a South Lyon
teacher, and I are proud to raise our family
here and I commit myself to draw on my
extensive experiences and skills to continue
to enhance our wonderful community.
First, we must ensure that our community
grows responsibly, in a manner consistent
with our Master Plan, while being mindful
of our utility and road infrastructure. Our
motto of “honoring yesterday and building
tomorrow” means we must balance our rural
roots with the push for further development.
With meticulous planning and measured
action, we can responsibly remain true to
our Township mission.

Second, it is imperative that we maintain a
superior level of public safety as the
demand for services increases. A
community without high-quality emergency
services is not a desirable place to live,
work, or raise a family. Sustaining our
commitment in these areas is vital and nonnegotiable.
Third, we must govern efficiently and
operate in a fiscally responsible manner.
Lyon Township has survived difficult
economic times while avoiding financial
pitfalls. Difficult decisions and economic
perils still lurk, however, and we must
remain ever vigilant in this regard.
