“In Pursuit of Truth”
A Message from our Principal
It’s exam time! Grades 4 – 11 should have their heads in their
books, and be studying hard. Our Matric exams are well
underway. The new system of unlocking and locking exam
bundles with an electronic key, which has been introduced
by the IEB to increase security, is working well.
Throughout the years, girls grow and mature intellectually,
emotionally, socially and spiritually and no school career is
without its challenges and heartaches. We are very proud of
our Matric girls and how they have matured. I share parts of
some letters written to us by the girls:
“Fatima has definitely moulded me into the person I am today.” KC
“Fatima has truly nurtured me in a way I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to
describe. As a young child I battled with anxiety and panic attacks. But
through the soft nature of this school I was able to overcome them and
reach where I am today. I have been pushed out of my comfort zone and
encouraged by so many people around me to go for opportunities…” AD
“There is no gift that I can give to adequately express my gratitude.” KD
“I am so proud to be a Fatima girl. Good luck for the future. I can’t wait to
one day send my kids to Fatima.”

Staff changes:
Regrettably, Ms Rademacher has decided to relocate to
Johannesburg from Term 2, 2015 and Ms Martins will be taking
up a business offer in the Aquatics Arena at the end of this
year. We wish them both well and thank them for their
contribution to the school over the years.

Swimming
U10 – U13 SWIMMING
On Thursday 30 October, the U10 – U13 ‘A’ Swimming team participated in a 50m Co-Ed
Relay Gala, as an ‘all-girls’ team. The girls swam very well and held their own against
schools that had boys representing half of each relay team.
Our girls were placed 3rd overall, just behind Umhlanga College and then DPHS. They beat
Maris Stella, Virginia A & B teams, Clifton Boys A & B teams and Crawford La Lucia. We are
very proud of our swimmers and in particular with the U12 girls, who won every race,
beating even the DPHS boys’ teams! The U10s & U11s also did very well, being placed 2nd
and 3rd in three events.
The Umhlali 25m Sprint Relay Gala took place on Saturday, 1 November. We were
apprehensive at the start, having lost to Umhlali in 2013, by 1 point! The gala is always won
by a very slim margin. The U10-U13 ‘A’ swimmers swam extremely well and won by a
massive 12 points! Umhlali were placed 2nd above Virginia, Westville, Northlands and then
Chelsea. There was an unbelievable amount of energy amongst the swimmers and the
vibe in the stands was very positive.
Well done to all the swimmers who were involved and especially the swimmers who were a
part of the following relays:

Special mention must be made of the U11 girls who have displayed a high level of
commitment and hard work that has made Fatima proud. These swimmers have improved
enormously! Keep it up, girls! What a wonderful start you have made to the swimming
season.
FRIDAY SWIMMING TIME TRIALS (7th & 14th November)
Friday, the 7th & 14th November will be the final two dates for swimming time trials. We will
focus only on 50m times on both these dates. Remember to bring your timesheets with you
so that you can record your times and compare these with the last swimming trial.
