Project Description  Purpose: To help improve the quality of the lives of the Nepalese students through the improvement of school infrastructure and cultural exchange between Hwa Chong students and the Nepalese students and teachers.  Project Nature: Build 1 complete classroom (Room size: 12 ft x 16 ft)  Provision of Education Services – Cultural Exchange with students from Baluwa Pani Higher Secondary School  Location: Nagarkot (2 hours bus ride from Kathmandu)  Project Time Frame: 16 Nov 2014 - 24 Nov 2014  Group Size: 30 Hwa Chong students and 3 teacher chaperones 2. Educational Objectives We aim to develop innovative and passionate individuals who can lead with integrity, serve with empathy and possess a strong sense of civic responsibility.     To nurture students who are compassionate, sensitive and responsive to the real needs in the community with a lifelong passion for volunteerism; To develop in the students a strong social conscience and sense of belonging and commitment to the community; To give students the opportunity to learn and appreciate the richness and diversity of cultures, drawing lessons that are meaningful and relevant to Singapore; To build self-confidence, independence, teamwork, leadership and other life skills. 3. Estimated cost (S$2,053.00 per student):  It includes airfares, airport tax, insurance, accommodation and land package cost in Nepal, and administrative cost.  Subsidies for citizens of Singapore: MOE Trips for International Experience Fund (TIE) of S$800 and Singapore Totalisator Board Grant of S$333 per student.  Subsides for permanent residents of Singapore: Singapore Totalisator Board Grant of S$333 per student.  Students may use funds from their individual Edusave accounts or apply for financial assistance (if eligible) to pay for the cost.  The above cost does not include immunization fees, which may vary depending on the number of injections required. 4. Trip Cancellation/ withdrawal:  Please note that the school will not cancel the trip even if there are negative reports on social unrest or natural disasters occurring at the destination. The school will only cancel the trip upon advice by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which case the school will seek compensation from the insurance company. 5.
