FUN RACE INFORMATION KIT A. GENERAL REGULATIONS 1. Competition Date and Venue The 2015 Singapore Canoe Marathon will be held on 18th January 2015 (Sunday) at Water Sports Centre, Singapore Sports Hub. For comprehensive directions on the Singapore Sport Hub’s webpage, please refer to www.tinyurl.com/2015scmdirections Stadium MRT Station (CC6) is the nearest station which exits directly into the Singapore Sports Hub. Train service will be available from 6:05am (towards Harbourfront) and 5:51am (towards Dhoby Ghaut). 2 2. Provisional Race Course The Fun Race route covers a distance of 7KM which is one lap of the route above. The start line will be at the Tanjong Rhu suspension footbridge and the finishing line will be in front of the Water Sports Centre, Singapore Sports Hub. 3 3. Registration a) Registration for Fun Race will be done online at tinyurl.com/2015scmfunrace b) There are 3 boat types available for participants to choose from: 1. Single sit-on-top kayak 2. Double sit-on-top kayak 3. Single closed deck kayak Participants who opt for DOUBLE SIT-ON-TOP KAYAK will have to sign up in pair. The organiser will not be matching the participants. Participants who opt for SINGLE CLOSED DECK KAYAK will have to submit an image of their star certification to [email protected] before 26 December 2014. c) Supporting documents such as: Indemnity Form for participants under the age of 21 and, Scanned copy of Star Certificate Must be duly completed and must be sent in not later than 26 December 2014, through email: [email protected]. Non-submission would render a withdrawal and there will be no refund. d) Late entries will not be accepted after the closing date. 5. Fees and Payment Fun Race: a) $30 per person Payment of entry fees is either by cheque (made payable to "Singapore Canoe Federation") or cash only. Cash payment can be made at Paddle Lodge @ MacRitichie Reservoir. Alternatively, kindly please post cheque payments(only) to: Singapore Canoe Federation c/o Crawford Post Office PO Box 570, Singapore 911903 b) There will be no refund of entry fee under all circumstances. 6. Participants’ Entitlements a) Boat rental is provided to participants joining the Fun Race. b) All participants will receive a finisher medal, goodie bag and event shirt upon completion of the race course. 5 B. SAFETY RULES & REGULATIONS This section is extracted from the agreement in the online registration form tinyurl.com/2015scmfunrace 1. Participants are to submit the completed form by the stipulated closing date. The organiser will reject any uncompleted form without informing the participants. 2. Participants must be able to swim at least 50 metres with the aid of permissible buoyancy aid, and must be at least 12 years of age as of event day. Participants must put on Personal Flotation Device (PFD) at all times during the race. 3. Any competitor who attempts to win a race by other than honourable means, or who breaks the racing regulations, or who disregards the honourable nature of the racing regulations shall be disqualified from the race. 4. When a kayak is overtaking another kayak in a race, it is the duty of the overtaking craft to keep clear at all times of the boat being overtaken. On the other hand, the craft being overtaken is not allowed to alter its course to make difficulties for the overtaking craft. 5. Any competitor who is responsible for a collision or who damages the boat or paddle of another will be disqualified and maybe required to pay for the equipment. 6. In the event of capsize, a competitor may receive assistance with emptying his boat at the bank or suitable area, and regaining his paddling position, but may not be progressed in any way. No exchange or substitution of boat is permitted, even with other competitors from the same team. 7. Safety escort boats are positioned along the race route with marshals, first aiders and rescue team. Competitors must adhere to the instructions given by the Safety Marshals at all time. 8. All paddlers must leave the water without delay upon notification of clearing from the water as advised by race crew if there is a need to open the flood gate. The race shall may be cancelled upon such instances. No refund will be provided in such instances. 9. In case of unforeseen weather conditions, the race may be cancelled. No refund will be provided in such instances. 10. There will be a briefing 30mins before the race. All participants are to attend the safety briefing. Failure to do so will result in a disqualification from the race. 11. There will no refund for withdrawal from the race after registration and payment had been made. 12. All payment must made by 26 December 2014 to “Singapore Canoe Federation”. Payment must be made either by hand to Kallang Water Sports Centre, Bank Transfer or 6 by Cheque (Payable to "Singapore Canoe Federation"). Participants who have successfully registered will be given the details of payment. Participants who fail to make payment by the stipulated date will have their place removed. 13. Participants are required to be in proper footwear (no slippers) before entering the waters. Failing to comply with the requested requirement would render a “No Entry” into the waters and there will be no refund for non-compliance. 14. A 7-day notice prior to the race is required shall there be a replacement. 15. Participants who opt for DOUBLE SIT-ON-TOP KAYAK will have to sign up in pair. The organiser will not be matching the participants. 16. Participants who opt for SINGLE CLOSED DECK KAYAK will have to submit an image of their star certification to [email protected] before 26 December 2014. Nonsubmission would render a withdrawal and there will be no refund. 17. A separate indemnity form for participants who are under the age of 21 is available online at www.scf.org.sg/2015scm. The indemnity form must be submitted before 26 December 2014. Failing to submit the indemnity form would render a withdrawal and there will be no refund. 18. The organiser reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or change the venue of the race without assigning reasons. 7 C. DECLARATION This section is extracted from the agreement in the online registration form tinyurl.com/2015scmfunrace I have no medical condition that would endanger my safety and physical well being arising from my participation in the 2015 Singapore Canoe Marathon and that I am medically and physically fit and competent to participate in this event; I agree to abide by the rules and regulations stated overleaf and hold myself solely responsible for any mishap or injury that might occur during, or as a result of, my participation in the stated event organised by, including rental of equipment/s from the event organizer; I hereby declare that all information provided is true and correct; and agree to abide and be bounded by the Terms and Conditions of the Singapore Canoe Federation and authorize Singapore Canoe Federation to disclose my personal information to its employee, service providers, vendors and affiliated partners. 8
