like more information, You can contact Yvonne at 2633
after Nov. 11th or Flora Tevis at 2048 before then. We
welcome our last year's participants and any new Ladies
who would like to try out our Fall Study.
Welcome back everyone to
our 2014-15 season.
Our ceramic room is open
and ready for your
use. Please check the
monitor's list to see when
it is open, due to not all monitors are back yet.
Bonnie Hensley will have the keys for the monitors
so be sure and check with her.
Last year we had over 30 members in our club
and we were busy all the time with all kinds of
classes, make and take classes, and general
individual things that the members choose to be
working on. So much fun to see what we all
enjoyed that was different from others.
We have make and take classes scheduled so be
sure and check in the room as to when they will
be and what. There will also be notices on
Channel 7.
Our season for classes for Members only will start
in January so everyone that is finally back can
take advantage of them. The samples are in the
room so check them out.
Our dues again this year are $20.00. Of that
$10.00 is dues and shelf and the other $10.00
be is credited to your firing cost. Our general
meetings are on the 2nd Tues. of each month at
1p.m. and everyone interested in what we do is
welcome to come and join in.
Come and join in the fun with us.
Wear your badge so we know who you are!
Welcome back if you are back. It seems like only
yesterday that we were wishing you farewell, till we
meet again. We have had a rather mild summer
with temperatures staying below 110 degrees most
of the time. We did however have a pretty wicked
Monsoon season. Several storms produced gargantuan amounts of rain. One storm was recorded as
the 100 year storm with an overabundance of rain.
With fall setting in and winter just around the corner we will see less violent weather. I'm sure you
returning Snowbirds will welcome that.
Our first meeting of the new season will be at
1:30 pm, Monday, November 3. We will meet
in the Navajo Room.
Before you know it, it will be Veteran's Day
(Armistice Day), when the War to End all Wars
ended. At least that's what we hoped at 11am, the
11th day of the 11th month when Germany surrendered. Guess we were a bit over optimistic, maybe
just wishful thinking. There aren't many still here
who can speak from experience. Not sure that
there are very many who experienced the Big One,
WWII. Korea is beginning to fade rapidly, although
there are still a few of us around. We don't have
many NAM vets and know you are out there. So
give us a reconnoiter, you may like what you see.
Some of you have finally reached retirement age and
can enjoy the fruits of your labor.
We will start our ceremony on Tuesday, November 11th with raising of the "Flags" at 8:15 am. We
need the support of every veteran who can muster
the call, USA and Canada, male and female. Our
group is gender neutral, we need all the support
you can muster for our cause. Our cause is to raise
funds for Veterans groups in communities of Pinal &
Maricopa Counties. We are a social group focusing
on camaraderie not ritual.
We had a great time last year and expect to even
have a better time this year. But we need
"VETERANS LIKE YOU" to make this work.
See you at one of our meetings.
Flower planting day is Wednesday, November 5. We’ll start about 7 AM (you can
start later if you wish). The last few years we’ve been all done before noon so I hope
we get a good turnout again this year. If you are new to the resort and would like to
help plant the flowers you can just show up on planting day and we’ll help you get started. We'll be in front of the library. This can just be a once a year thing if that is all you
are interested in.
There is a sign up sheet in the hallway if you are interested in tending one of the flower beds for part of
the season or for the whole season. We usually need a few volunteers to fill in before some of the regular
volunteers arrive. This usually involves pulling a few weeds and deadheading the flowers.
We are also going to add another raised bed to the vegetable garden this year. We could probably use
some help with getting the bed ready and then planting and watering as the season progresses. You can
contact Jan Olstad at 1884 if you would like to help out in the garden.
If you have any questions you can call Bill at 2990.
Beads with Barb
The Computer Club will start the season on
Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 9:30 A.M. with Arnie
Dickinson as our speaker. If you have any
questions or new class ideas for the Club,
bring them along. The first and third Wednesdays of the month are official meeting days
and the alternating Wednesdays are miniclasses. Usually on these alternate dates,
someone gives a demo or teaches for approximately 30 to 45 minutes followed by a question and answer time. Sometimes there is a
speaker from outside the Park.
This year we will continue to try and fill the
needs of our membership, since technology
continues to advance rapidly. If you would
like to teach or know of someone with expertise in something that would benefit our members
as a Class or perhaps a mini-class, please
forward the information to any club officer.
As soon as classes are scheduled, they will
be posted on our bulletin board. Your input
for interesting classes is welcomed and appreciated. You must be a club member to take
classes. Dues this year will be $20 per
household with No Charge for classes led by
core instructors. Outside instructors who
charge will be paid by those taking the class.
The second Wednesday of each month, December thru March, is Country Store Day in
the Ballroom. Look for our table to order your
Business Cards and mailing labels or contact
Arvella 2765 or Jennifer 2533.
Please continue to save used ink cartridges
for the club. They can be dropped off in the
container next to our bulletin board in the mail
hall.

Club, please fill out the form and leave with

Ladies, I must apologize for not starting on November 7th as my first class. Each year I do a

November 21. BIG MAMA. This wonderful beauty is
done with size 12 pearls, bicones, and flowers and ends with

beauties. One for you and one to give away. $40.

delightful crystal and silver spacers bring together a gracious,
elegant beauty. Cost $40

name and phone number after your name. If you wish to be
put on a waiting list, put your name below the five signups.
May the beads be with you and enjoy! I look forward to new
people joining us and having fun! We are a great bunch of
gals!

RATTLER'S CHRISTMAS
The Rattler's will be preparing
for a Dec. 9 Christmas show.
Practice will begin on
Monday, November 10.
Every Monday the Rattler's
rehearse from 10 until noon in
the ballroom.
Please consider joining the group. We sing for fun
and for the love of music while we play kazoos, tea
pots and spoons (among other things).
Coupon Project
We cut, sort & mail coupons found inserted in the
newspaper and send them
to a naval air station in Japan. These coupons can be
used on the base, even if
they’re expired.
If everyone of us can collect coupons on a
regular basis, we can help these military families stretch their food budgets.
Deposit your cut or uncut coupons in the box
in the hallway by the mail boxes or in the box
on the table near the Activities Office.
There are also boxes in the Navajo & Card
Rooms.
Thanks to all who help and thanks to Dorothy
Falke, our coupon queen & coordinator.
Soon the sewing room will be back in full
swing. Welcome to all who are using it now.
We will again have a
busy season. Classes will
be scheduled soon,
watch your e-mail for a
note from Diane Litzinger,
our scheduler, asking for
ideas and volunteers to
teach a class. We can
look forward to a shop hop in February,
which will include three shops and a break
for lunch. Fun!
December will bring an annual event, a
Christmas party for disadvantaged children.
Each will receive a Sew a Smile quilt plus
lots of goodies. See you soon.
SWEDISH WEAVING
We'll be starting our
weekly classes on
Wednesday,
December 3rd upstairs in
the Craft room - from 1-3 PM.
If anyone is having a problem with a project
and would like some assistance before
classes start, feel free to contact Les (2974),
Sharon (2302) or Gert (2044).
For those unfamiliar with Swedish weaving it is fun and addictive. Patterns are woven
with yarn on pre-washed Monks Cloth. The
process of following the pattern is very similar
to counted cross stitch. Common items
made are table runners, place mats, and afghans. In class, the beginners project is a
toilet tank topper. Our class library of pattern
books is available for check out by class
members.
We have been notified by Yarn Cents, our
favorite Monks Cloth supplier that they won't
be opening their booth at Mesa Market this
year. They do have a warehouse stocked
with yarns and fabric that is available by
appointment. Fabric is still available on a
limited basis at WalMart, Hobby Lobby, and
JoAnn Fabrics. If you are still home and
planning on a project this year, you might
want to check your local stores for fabric before you come to AZ.
Look forward to seeing everyone soon!
