Anglican churches are formed into dioceses - a geographical grouping of churches - which are led by a Bishop. The Bishop works with the Synod - the clergy of the churches and elected representatives of each congregation -- to make decisions governing the church. Your synod representatives this year are Melissa Bowles, Corwin Cambray, and Nancy Little. Val and I, and your lay representatives, met all day yesterday in Hamilton for our annual Synod meeting. You can speak to one of these delegates if you have any questions about the decisions and work of Synod. And I encourage you to look for a follow-up report from your delegates about the meeting. We have Youth Group and Children’s program for our younger participants New Staff Person at St. George's: Based on a recommendation from our St. George's Finance Committee which would see us begin to draw a percentage of the income from the Foundation Fund investment (established in 2008), St. George's has posted this week a new job position which would begin here in January 2015. This Youth Music Director and Ministry Development Worker would work with John Butler and our Ministry Team on developing an additional evening service – very much grounded in our Anglican traditional while also looking to reach out to new people – as well as creating a Children's Choir. It is for this kind of development work, strengthening and expanding our ministry, that the Foundation Fund was so generously created. We look forward to sharing with you more about this new staff person and these ministry possibilities as your St. George's Corporation works with our Bishop and Diocesan staff in the interviewing and hiring process.
