10:00 AM and the last Sunday at 12:45 PM each month at
St. Francis Church in Brant Beach. Baptisms during Mass are
celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of each month at the last Mass in
each Church. Call the Parish Office for availability and
requirements: at (609) 494-8813 ext. 154 or 155.
Faith Formation and Education: For children ages six
through high school. Please call Theresa Cassata, ofs at
(609) 494-8813 ext. 153 for more information.
Marriage: In accordance with the Common Policy of the five
Dioceses of New Jersey, arrangements must be made ONE
YEAR in advance. Couples are required to attend Marriage
Preparation classes. Weddings are performed on Friday or
Saturday. Weddings are NOT performed on Sundays, the
beach, Memorial Day, Fourth of July or Labor Day weekends.
Pastoral Visitations: Please notify the Parish Office if you or
any of your loved ones are ill, homebound, in SOMC, nursing
homes or rehabilitation centers.
Today we celebrate the Feast of All Souls and yesterday
(Saturday) we celebrated the feast of All Saints. The feast of
All Saints proclaims who we are through our baptism: "the
saints or the holy ones of God" (Philippians 1:1). Today's feast
of All Souls proclaims who we will be: "the souls of the just in
the hand of God" (Wisdom 3:1).
When Saint Paul calls us the "saints or the holy ones of
God" he is giving us both our identity and our vocation: "you
who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus...called to be holy"
(1 Corinthians 1:2). Our vocation is to live holy lives, that is
to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and to engage our world and
to welcome all people. A holy life strives to love not just a
neighbor but also an enemy. A "saint of God" is called to be the
voice, the advocate of the voiceless in our society: the leper, the
poor and the immigrant. This is our identity as a parish. We
live out our holiness and show forth our light both in the church
and in the St. Francis Center where we feed the hungry and give
drink to the thirsty (Matthew 25:31-46).
Today's feast of All Souls proclaims who we will be, that is
the "souls of the just in the hands of God." My mother died a
year ago this month and I have been in mourning this past year
as I remember with both tears and joy my mother's holiness. In
this time of mourning I share something personal and in
common with many of you. I have found comfort and strength
in the words of the book of Wisdom, particularly as it was read
at my mother's funeral mass: "The souls of the righteous are in
the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them. They
seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead...But they are in
peace" (Wisdom 3:1, 3). As my mother lifted up each one of
her ten children so God has lifted up into his hands my mother
and all of our deceased parishioners. We remember all of those
parishioners who have died during this past year at a special
mass Monday, November 3rd at 6:00 PM. Please come and
laugh and cry and pray with us and hear God tell us once again
that they are in the hands of God.

Since “Sandy” there has been a shift in the American
consciousness about Global Warming. It is time to take
action regarding global warming through Socially

One place to begin is with the oil, gas and coal industries and
the fossil fuel divestment movement. It does not matter how
