Jamaica Customs Agency Advisory Board Jamaica Customs Agency Advisory Board Kim Clarke, President – Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) Jacqueline Cole Ricketts , President -Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association of Jamaica (CBFFAJ) Mr. Kim Clarke is the newly elected President of the Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ). She was also a Board Member and President of the Liberty Academy at the Priory High School's Home School Association (PTA) – 2011-2012 Jamaica Customs Agency Advisory Board Dr. The Hon Peter Phillips, Minister of Finance and Planning ,appoints the Jamaica Customs Agency Cabinet has given approval for the establishment of the Advisory Board for the Jamaica Customs Agency and the appointment of the members for three years. The members are Francis Kennedy, Kim Clarke, Jacqueline Cole, Audrey Sewell, Eric Deans, Sandor Pike, and Shauna Trowers. The Advisory Board is mandated by the Executive Agencies Act (2002), and Executive Agencies (General) Regulations 2009, to provide advice to the Chief Executive Officer of the Executive Agency, in the management of the Agency’s portfolio. Chief Executive Officer / Commissioner of Jamaica Customs Major Reese has devoted a lifetime to security management serving Jamaica in positions such as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of National Security; Secretary to the Defense Board, Commissioner of Corrections and since May 2012 as Commissioner of Customs. He also served as Head of Logistics of the recently concluded Diaspora Conference in June 2013. Major Reese serves the parish of Kingston as a Justice of the Peace and is a member of the American Society for Industrial Security and the American Corrections Association. Sewell Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, Works and Housing Mrs. Sewell is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Works and Housing. She has been a faithful and dedicated public servant for , She started on this path in 1984 at the HEART Trust/NTA; organization opened its doorsand dedicated 20 years to the educational institution. She was promoted through the ranks to the level of Director of Academics. Jamaica Customs Agency Advisory Board Jamaica Customs Agency Advisory Board Being the consummate educator and leader, Mrs. Sewell continue to serve as Director/Principal at the Ministry of Justice’s Justice Training Institute from 2004 to 2008. This invaluable contribution to the education, social and human development of persons saw her transition to the post of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education in April 2008, where she served for three years until November 2011. Her passion for education and human empowerment did not go unnoticed as Mrs. Sewell was bestowed with the Prime Minister’s award for excellence in education in 2010 . As an accomplished public servant, she has selflessly sat on several Boards of Public Bodies, including the Students Loan Bureau (SLB), National Council on Education, Overseas Examination Commission, UWI Technical Advisory Committee, and various other School Boards. She also conducts seminars and workshops at Conferences on international and local settings Sandor Pike: Director of agricultural marketing in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. Mr. Pike has been employed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for twenty-six (26) years. He began his journey in 1986 and has work in many divisions of the Ministry holding several positions. He has held several managerial positions for sixteen years, such as: Director - Marketing Research; Marketing Research Grades and Standards; Marketing and Credit and Agricultural Services. He is currently the Director of Agricultural Marketing. Mr. Pike serves on a number of Dr Eric Deans Chairman of the Jamaica Logistics Hub Taskforce Miss Shauna Trowers, Director , Tax Policy Development at the Ministry of Finance and Planning and the Public Service (MOFPS) Dr. Deans is Director at Kingston Free Zone, Director at Montego Bay Free Zone, Director of Shipping Policy and Research at Maritime Authority of Jamaica. He is a Maritime Economist with broad operational experience supported by strong academic foundation. He is also a Strategic Analyst of the shipping and port sec- . tors with particular expertise in the container industry with extensive international experience in North and Central America, Europe, Asia and the Caribbean. He has solid history of environmental stewardship, including serving as a member of the IMO Expert Group on market based measures to reduce ship emissions, delegate to the Marine Environment Protection Committee of the IMO and National Coordinator for the Wider Caribbean Initiative on ship generated waste. Specialties: Maritime Economics, Maritime logistics, Port and Ship operations, Change initiatives. Miss Trowers is a young professional with over 10 years experience in management in the Public Service, with speciality in Taxation Policy., currently Ms. aim to ensure the necessary synergy to facilitate sound and effective policy decision making. Prior to holding this position, Miss. Trowers was a Tax Analyst and taught at the University of the West Indies, as a tutor in Public Financial Administration. An avid believer in service, Ms. Trowers has been a member of other public sector boards including the Jamaica International Financial Services Authority (JIFSA) and the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF). She is the Chairperson for the Human Resource, sub-committee of the TEF Board.
