C. 6000 22nd October, 2014 Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments are asked to invite applications from suitably qualified officers in their Ministries/Departments to fill the post of Family Nurse Practitioner (HPC/RN 5) in the Medical Services Branch, Jamaica Constabulary Force, salary range $1,492,650 - $1,774,292 per annum and any allowance(s) attached to the post. Job Purpose The Family Nurse Practitioner will perform his/her duties in accordance with the appropriate policy/legislation, under the direct supervision of a Medical Officer. Key Responsibilities Professional/Technical Conducts interviews with clients and family members to obtain a comprehensive health history; Completes comprehensive physical examinations including developmental assessments, observing and analyzing signs and symptoms; Evaluates findings clinically and formulates appropriate medical and nursing diagnosis; Ensures that all medical data is recorded concisely and accurately; Performs selected diagnostic tests to identify and assess clients clinical problems and health care needs; Prescribes drugs and other forms of treatment or therapeutic procedures relevant to client problems; Implements patient treatment as required inclusive of making referrals ; Evaluates care given and modifies management as indicated by clients response to treatment; Liaises with Medical Officer and other health personnel to ensure observation of standards and continuity of care; Assists with educating clients and family as it relates to illness(es). Administrative Participates in church and community Health Fairs, seminars and workshops when directed; Assists with the preparation of the annual budget for the Medical Services Branch; Conducts research in medical best practices, new and emerging technology that can enhance patient care; Participates in the development of policy for the delivery of health care; Provides leadership and guidance to direct reports through effective planning, delegation, communication, training, mentoring and coaching; Performs other related functions assigned from time to time. Special Conditions associated with the Performance of the Job Island-wide travel required Required to work outside of normal working hours Required to work occasionally on weekends and public holidays 2/… -2- Required Competencies Excellent knowledge of principles, methods and procedures for the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients Knowledge of emergency and medical services Basic knowledge of healthcare delivery to uniformed groups Knowledge of clinical research methods Proficient in the use of relevant computer applications Excellent written and oral communications skills Excellent interpersonal skills to listen effectively Ability to prioritize a wide range of job activities with accuracy and speed.
