TRADE MANAGEMENT ASIA
ASIAN BUSINESS IS BOOMING. IF YOU HAVE
THE SKILLS AND THE KNOWLEDGE TO SET
UP OR MANAGE A COMPANY IN ONE OF
THE ASIAN EMERGING MARKETS, AN
INTERNATIONAL CAREER IS JUST AROUND
THE CORNER. THE TRADE MANAGEMENT
ASIA PROGRAMME (TMA) EDUCATES YOU
IN GENERAL AND ASIA-SPECIFIC ASPECTS
OF TRADE, LOGISTICS, MARKETING,
FINANCE; IT ALSO TEACHES YOU EITHER
MANDARIN OR JAPANESE. LAUNCH YOUR
ASIAN BUSINESS CAREER THROUGH THE
TMA PROGRAMME AT THE IBS.
STUDY PROGRAMME IN BRIEF
FOR WHOM/WHY
TITLE
You want to know how to succeed in Asian
markets.
► You want to learn Mandarin or Japanese.
► You want to study at an Asian university for six
months.
Bachelor of Arts. This title is recognised
internationally.
►
The TMA programme is four years of in-depth
learning about business in an international
context. Familiarise yourself with important
organisational processes relating to both
marketing and finance. Specialise in Global Trade
& Logistics in Asia and study abroad at one of our
Asian partner universities. Do a fascinating Asian
internship and write a graduation research paper
where you supply an actual company with your
own carefully motivated advice. Develop your
personality and your professional outlook: get
started in the international world of business.
CAREER POSSIBILITIES
As a TMA graduate you are quite a valuable asset
to the business community: companies or
employers who conduct business with (or in) Asia
will ‘want to be your friend’. Not only do you
have a solid understanding of how to do business
in Asia, you also already speak an Asian language
and you are attuned to Asian general and specific
cultures and values. With the network you built
during your studies, you’re ready to make your
mark on the international business world.
STUDY LOAD
42 weeks of lessons per annum.
40 hours per week, of which 20 hours are
classes.
► The remaining hours are spent on projects,
research, assignments and self directed study
(preparing lessons and exams).
► In your first academic year at the IBS, you must
earn at least 50 of the 60 available credits to be
permitted to enrol in the second year.

ENROLMENT
TMA is a sought-after programme,
therefore a limited number of students per
academic year is allowed in. Your studies here
should also be a genuinely international
experience with a nice mix of international and
Dutch students. To bring that about, we have a
so-called ‘decentralised selection procedure’.
Students with international experience are given
priority. We have a strict deadline, you need to
apply via Studielink before 15 March 2015.
“TMA brings you all the aspects a future
management professional would need in order to
operate in the most booming part of the world.”
Tracy Zhu, student TMA

right choice it is also important
that you collect and read objective
