Ms. Demaria is the keynote speaker at this year’s METS Breakfast
Briefing, she has spent most of her career in the Italian boating
sector and is the founder and driving force behind the Italian
luxury yacht brand Monte Carlo Yachts since its inception in 2008. The interview will be focusing on in depth questions on Ms.
Demaria’s keynote speech, during which she gives insight in her
views on the current and future market developments

Presentation by the overall DAME Winner, followed by a short
interview by Ed Slack, editor IBI Magazine (the DAME winner
is announced during the METS Breakfast Briefing, the opening
ceremony of METS in the early morning of Tuesday 18th
November)
13.00 – 13.30 The future of custom yacht manufacture
Mr. James Day, Project Manager, Green Marine
Green Marine’s core business is building custom racing yachts, high
performance superyachts and light-weight components in carbon
fibre composites. Green Marine has been building lightweight
composite yachts for 25 years, including high profile race designs
for classes such as TP52, Open 60, Mini Maxi, multihull and
challengers for the America’s Cup and Volvo Round the World
Race.
Green Marine is responsible for the complete assembly and fit out
of the VO65s, as well as overseeing the quality of the consortium’s
work. Over the course of an 18-week period for each boat,
the Green Marine team assembles the primary and secondary
structures, installs and fits out the interior including all electrical,
hydraulic, steering and other systems, fits the keel and deck gear,
and finally paints and commissions the finished yacht.

Mr. John Pfeifer, President, Mercury Marine
Purpose-built marine package delivers new benefits and features
that optimize the overall value and performance.
Pfeifer joined Brunswick in 2006 as president of the Brunswick
Asia Pacific Group, and in 2008 was appointed president of
Brunswick Marine in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
In those roles, Pfeifer streamlined the Company’s global marine
businesses to drive enhanced levels of customer service and
improved overall operating capability.
In 2012, Pfeifer was appointed vice president – global operations
for Mercury Marine. In that position, he was responsible for all
of Mercury’s global operations, which combined material supply
with manufacturing and distribution to enable a more streamlined
and effective operations group. During his tenure, Mercury
executed a multi-year manufacturing capacity expansion to better
position the operation for growth and profitability. Prior to joining
Brunswick, Pfeifer most recently held executive positions with ITT
Corporation and Milacron, Inc.

Mr. Mike Wiegers, Vice President Consumer Engineering,
Garmin
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year Garmin imagines what
the next 25 years could hold for the marine electronics sector,
drawing on their technologies from automotive and aeronautical
sectors.
Michael Wiegers joined Garmin in 1993 as an electrical engineer,
acting as lead engineer in marine, handheld and automotive
product design. He has served in a variety of leadership capacities
in the consumer electrical, software and mechanical engineering
areas during his tenure. Wiegers currently directs the day-to-day
operations of the consumer engineering department.

Innovations
Presentation ‘A boat is an autarkic building’. As Innovation
consultant for the building industry and architecture, owner of
three sailing boats and specialist in sustainability, Atto will make
inspiring connections between sustainable buildings and the boat
industry.

Presentation on ‘Innovation of (super)yachts’, about minimizing
details, the use of new materials, the increasing use of glass in
yachts and a prototype of a `Royal` yacht.
