Green Marine has been building lightweight composite yachts for 25 years, including high profile race designs for classes such as TP52, Open 60, Mini Maxi, multihull and challengers for the America’s Cup and Volvo Round the World Race. Green Marine is responsible for the complete assembly and fit out of the VO65s, as well as overseeing the quality of the consortium’s work. Over the course of an 18-week period for each boat, the Green Marine team assembles the primary and secondary structures, installs and fits out the interior including all electrical, hydraulic, steering and other systems, fits the keel and deck gear, and finally paints and commissions the finished yacht. 14.00 – 14.30 ‘Innovative materials on land and in the water’ Ir. In 2012, Pfeifer was appointed vice president – global operations for Mercury Marine. In that position, he was responsible for all of Mercury’s global operations, which combined material supply with manufacturing and distribution to enable a more streamlined and effective operations group. During his tenure, Mercury executed a multi-year manufacturing capacity expansion to better position the operation for growth and profitability. Michael Wiegers joined Garmin in 1993 as an electrical engineer, acting as lead engineer in marine, handheld and automotive product design. He has served in a variety of leadership capacities in the consumer electrical, software and mechanical engineering areas during his tenure.
