NOVEMBER 2014 NON-PROFIT ORG U.S. POSTAGE PAID DOUSMAN, WI PERMIT NO. 10 Safari Journal W157 N10472 Fieldstone Pass Germantown, WI 53022 www.sciwi.org President’s Message Another month has come and gone and we are now in the early stages of deer season. Many of you are out hunting. I wish you all success and enjoyment! Hopefully some of you can take out a new hunter, young or old, to help them enjoy the outdoors and perhaps experience their first successful hunt. Some of us can still remember what that felt like! As we approach fall, those of us active in SCI are busy planning the upcoming major events: the March 6 & 7, 2015 Grand Banquet and Whitetail Night coming January 10, 2015. Be sure to sign up for the Christmas party to be held December 5, 2014 at Alioto’s. For more information, visit our website at www.sciwi.org. It is loaded with current information on these and all of our coming events and activities. Quality Printing and Design Since 1988 I especially want to talk about the new energy that is running through our chapter of late. For those of you who attended the monthly meeting in October I think you would agree that it was a very enjoyable event, mainly because we had a great crowd who mingled and enjoyed each other’s company. Several new members attended and that was great as well! This trend has been growing over the last few meetings so I encourage those who have not attended in a while to try out a monthly meeting. Bring a friend and introduce them to SCI. I think you will enjoy yourselves! by Michael Betters Recently all of you received a letter from Michael Wettstein asking for your help financially in support of our chapter. I would ask you to please help the chapter by donating. These funds are the starting point for getting the banquet going, which is our major source of revenue for the year. We need these funds to support of all of the good things SCI and specifically SCI-Wisconsin does on a regular basis for hunters in Wisconsin. Being members is a good start but all of you know sitting idly by is not good enough in the fight to protect your hunting rights. Every year SCI fights for your rights in Wisconsin. We support a lobbyist in Madison who helps monitor governmental and DNR activities and fight for our rights to hunt in addition to keeping us informed of any potential negative legislation. This year SCI was directly involved in the litigation for using dogs in hunting wolves. We were part of the support when a separate crossbow season was implemented last year. Even if you do not support one of those specific items you see how we are always watching and working to keep the hunting heritage in Wisconsin going. But we need you in that process to be involved and support the chapter. Good luck to everyone as many of us head into the great outdoors after the elusive whitetail deer. If you are successful, share the news and pictures with us on the website and plan on attending Whitetail Night, where you can get your trophy scored for free!
