HOW TO CREATE A GOOGLE SCHOLAR PROFILE by Hiran H E Jayaweera ([email protected]) 1. 2. Visit scholar.google.com Click on my citations 3. Enter your email address and password. 3.1. If you have an email address on sci.cmb.ac.lk domain, go straight and enter the user name and password 3.2. If you are using email address on domain like phys.cmb.ac.lk you need to create a Google account. Just click on sign up button 4. Fill the form appearing 4.1. Name: the way you have used in publications 4.2. Affiliation: E.g. PhD candidate, Faculty of Science, University of Colombo 4.3. Email for verification – use the same address 5. Google scholar will search your list of publication and shows then as groups. You can add relevant publication there 6. Select “Automatically update the list of articles in my profile. Click “Go to my profile button” 7. In this stage, you will be able to see your Google Scholar Profile. You can improve the profile by doing following 7 modifications, just by clicking on edit links 7.1. You can change the way that your name is displayed 7.2. Affiliation 7.3. Research interest 7.4. This is an IMPORTANT step. Make your profile public. Otherwise no one can see your profile. 7.5. The next step is copy and email the link to the [email protected], so that we can display your Google scholar profile in our web site. 7.6. You can change your home page to your page in the Faculty web site. URL to your page can easily be found at http://science.cmb.ac.lk/for-faculty-and-staff/ . In that page search your name at people search. Click on your name and then copy the URL from the web browser. It should looks like “http://science.cmb.ac.lk/contact-us/contacts/?contact_id=8”. When you search in the people search it seems that your name is not in our database. In such a case please send your information to us on the [email protected]. 7.7. You can add a profile picture too
