Main St. McAlester, OK 74501 Schedule of Services Gloria Reeves Who's Watching the Kids? What is it about children? I remember someone describing them as 'little people'. One only has to look at them to see the truth of that statement. They are small in every way. Every parent remembers the birth of their children. And when first laying eyes on that brand new person, the marvel of every tiny detail from fingernails to eyebrows to toes. It is the smallness that fascinates us. If all is well, growth occurs. It is expected. And when it happens we are pleased because we know the child is healthy. But if growth does not occur we know there is a problem. One cannot remain a child and be healthy. In order to be healthy, growth must occur. The smallness must end. The apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians, "Brothers, do not be children in your thinking". The Corinthian church is known for its pettiness, the bickering, the selfishness, the divisions. All of those things existed because they were spiritual children. They were small in their thinking, and the smallness was not fascinating. It was a sign of illness. Like the growth in our children, spiritual growth is a beautiful thing to see. It comes as a result of proper nourishment, exercise, and generally taking care. "...so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes" Eph 4:14.
