I love chocolate. In fact I like just about any sweet. This box has sat on my desk and has not moved since I received it. While it has not moved, it has become more and more empty. I will find myself reaching into the box for a piece or two without even thinking about what I’m doing. It’s simple, put chocolate in front of me and I’m going to eat it. There is a huge lesson in all this. I have to be very careful of what I put within arm’s reach of myself. Everything that I love is not good for me. Sure, it might taste good, but that doesn’t mean it is good. We all love to sin, and whether we want to admit it or not sin does taste good. So good that putting ourselves in close proximity to it means that at times, without even thinking about it we will find ourselves reaching out for it. Romans 7:15 sums up the fallen nature of man quite well. “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” I want to not eat so much chocolate. I want to avoid empty calories, but whenever I’m around it, I’m going to reach for it. So, I like everyone else need to be very cautious of what’s around me. Failure to do so means we might find ourselves reaching for something that’s a whole lot more dangerous than chocolate. Kyle ONE SMALL CHILD We want to take this time to thank everyone for all the prayers, texts, calls, messages, hugs, food. We love our church and appreciate how everyone helps and cares.
