Purtop System Deck SPRAY-APPLIED HYBRID POLYUREA OR PURE POLYUREA-BASED WATERPROOFING SYSTEM FOR TRAFFICKED ROOFS AND BRIDGES AND VIADUCT DECKS PRODUCTS USED FOR THE SYSTEM: Purtop 400 M - Purtop 1000 - Primer SN - Quartz 0.25 - Mapefloor I 914 Triblock P - Primer M - Quartz 0.5 - Purtop Primer Black - Quartz 1.2 DESCRIPTION AND AREAS OF USE PURTOP SYSTEM DECK is a waterproofing system based on PURTOP 400 M two-component, solvent-free, hybrid polyurea membrane and PURTOP 1000 two-component, solvent-free, pure polyurea membrane. Thanks to its excellent tear strength, exceptional elasticity and chemical resistance, it is extremely versatile and suitable for numerous types of trafficked roofs, as well as trafficked surfaces typically found in a wide range of infrastructures. MAPEI has created a letter and number coding system, based on the type of substrate and type of finish, to identify the various types of structure that can be waterproofed with PURTOP SYSTEM DECK. For any applications not included in this data sheet, please contact the MAPEI Technical Services Department to find the most appropriate technical solution. PURTOP SYSTEM DECK is divided into the following sub-systems: 1. CONCRETE in combination with various finishes: A. INDUSTRIAL FLOORING B. SELF-LOCKING BLOCKS C. ASPHALT (For example, PURTOP SYSTEM DECK 1B stands for a waterproofing system on a concrete substrate, 1, with a self-locking block finish, B). PERFORMANCE AND ADVANTAGES • Thanks to the capacity of PURTOP 400 M and PURTOP 1000 to adhere to various types of existing trafficked roofs and decks, it may be used to repair the waterproofing layer on many types of substrate. Examples of trafficked surfaces waterproofed with Purtop System Deck Purtop System Deck • Rapid installation due to the immediate waterproofing and set to receive foot traffic. • Due to the high mechanical strength and high static and crack-bridging capacity of PURTOP 400 M and PURTOP 1000, the system may be applied on any type of structure. • PURTOP 400 M and PURTOP 1000 are applied in thin layers (2 mm), so no additional loading: the only load, therefore, is due to the type of finish used. • PURTOP membranes have excellent resistance to high temperatures, so asphalt may be poured directly on to it. SUBSTRATE 1 CONCRETE Check the substrate to make sure it is suitable for applying the A INDUSTRIAL FLOORING Industrial flooring PE sheet (min. thickness 0.8 mm) TNT (> 400 g/m²) Purtop 400 M/Purtop 1000 Primer SN dusted with Quartz 0.5 Concrete substrate waterproofing system. Prepare the surface with a sanding machine or by shot-blasting to remove all traces of oil, grease, dirt and any other material which could compromise the adhesion of the waterproofing system. Remove all dust and any loose parts from the substrate to leave a dry, porous, slightly rough surface with no contaminants. Repair any hollows, or cavities and form the slope or camber required using a suitable product from the MAPEGROUT range. After preparing the surface as described above, apply a layer of PRIMER SN mixed with 20% QUARTZ 0.25 with a smooth trowel or rake and then dust the surface with QUARTZ 0.5. Alternatively, apply two coats of MAPEFLOOR I 914 two components epoxy primer. Lightly dust the primer while it is still fresh with QUARTZ 1.2. If the level of residual humidity in the substrate is higher than 4%, and it is not possible to wait until it drops to a lower value, apply one or two coats of TRIBLOCK P threecomponent, epoxy-cementitious primer with a trowel or roller, depending on the condition of the substrate. If there are metal elements in the concrete substrate, carry out the following treatment. Check the state of the substrate and dry sandblast the surface to grade SA 2½ according to Swedish Standards or prepare the surface using an alternative method, such as with a scrubbing-action or percussionaction cleaning machine. After treating the metallic surfaces, apply a coat of PRIMER EP RUSTOP two-component, epoxy primer with a brush, roller or airless spray. If there are structural joints in the substrate, they must be treated and waterproofed first. For further information, we recommend contacting the MAPEI Technical Services Department. MEMBRANES PURTOP 400 M and PURTOP 1000 Apply PURTOP membranes at a temperature of between +5°C and +40°C. Before applying a PURTOP membranes, remove all traces of dust from the surface with an industrial vacuum cleaner. The temperature of the substrate must be at least 3°C higher than the dew-point B SELF-LOCKING BLOCKS Self-locking blocks Sand installation layer PE sheet (min. thickness 0.8 mm) TNT (> 400 g/m²) Purtop 400 M/Purtop 1000 Primer SN dusted with Quartz 0.5 Concrete substrate temperature and the level of relative humidity must be no higher than 4%. B SELF-LOCKING BLOCKS (See Picture). To apply a PURTOP 400 M or PURTOP 1000 membrane, use a high-pressure, bi-mixer industrial sprayer with flow and temperature control, fitted with a self-cleaning spray gun. Apply PURTOP membranes in a continuous layer over all the horizontal surfaces and upstands. C ASPHALT When the membrane is dry, make sure the surface is clean and use a roller or airless spray gun to apply PURTOP PRIMER BLACK one-component, solvent-based primer specifically formulated to improve the adhesion of asphalt on surfaces waterproofed with membranes from the PURTOP range. While the primer is still fresh, dust the surface with QUARTZ 1.2 to further improve adhesion of the asphalt. Before applying the asphalt, spread on a hot bonding layer made generally from bitumen modified with styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR). If application of PURTOP 400 M or PURTOP 1000 is interrupted and then taken up again after the maximum covering time (2 hours), apply a coat of PRIMER M and form an overlap at least 30 cm wide. FINISHING A INDUSTRIAL FLOORING (See Picture). NOTES For further information on the products which make up the system, please refer to the relative Technical Data Sheet for each product. Recommendations regarding safe use and handling of the products are contained in the Safety Data Sheet for each single material in the cycle. If the system is applied on different surfaces to those mentioned above, or in climatic conditions and/or for final uses not mentioned in the Technical Data Sheet for the system, please contact the MAPEI Technical Services Department.
