“Honor Flight”
On Tuesday November 11th at
2:00 PM in the Dining Room Professional
Healthcare Resources will be showing “Honor
Flight.” This movie is a heartwarming
documentary about 4 living World War II
veterans and a Midwest community coming
together to give them the trip of a lifetime.
Volunteers race against the clock to fly
thousands of WWII veterans to Washington, DC
to see the memorial constructed for them in
2004, nearly 60 years after their epic struggle.

Wandering Docent:
Music In The Arts
Our Wandering
Docent, Roshna
Kapadia will be
joining us once again
on Tuesday, November 18th at 2:00PM in the
Library for a special presentation on “Music in
the Arts”. From early Greek sculpture showing
humans and satyrs playing the lyre, to medieval
depictions of angels plucking the strings of a
harp, to Picasso’s cubist musicians on the
mandolin, we trace the evolution of musical
instruments through depictions in art—in
sacred, secular, or joyfully festive
environments.
Veterans
Celebration
Veterans Day is observed
every year on November 11th
and marks the anniversary of the end of World

United States military.
This November 12th at 2:00pm, Potomac Place
will join forces with VITAS Innovative Hospice
Care for a very special Veterans Day
celebration, honoring our very own residents.
Please join us in the main dining room, feel free
to invite friends and family to make them a part
of this spectacular event . The keynote speaker
will be Saul E. Cardona, VITAS Community
Veterans Liaison and retired U.S. Army
Chaplain.

Monthly Memo
From Kathryn
It is hard to believe that the
holiday season is already
beginning. The month for
giving thanks is here and Potomac Place will
be offering Thanksgiving Brunch starting at
11:30am. Chef Claude and his staff invite you
to sample some of their specialties. Please
make sure to RSVP by calling 703.494-3817 or
stop by the office.
Please join me in bidding our kind and
energetic Activities Assistant, Kathy Mayer a
kind farewell as she is moving on to be closer
to her family. We will certainly miss her
enthusiasm and vivacious personality.
Wishing you all the best, Kathy!
Have you received your flu shot? We strongly
encourage everyone to get a flu shot during
this season to help us remain healthy and
prevent the spread of flu. It is very important
this time of year to practice good infection
control methods. For instance, be sure and
wash your hands frequently with soap and
water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water
are not available. Reschedule visits if you are
sick to prevent the chance of spreading
illness. If you have to sneeze or cough do not
use your hands; cough or sneeze into your
shoulder instead to keep the germs away
from your hands and away from others. It is
essential to sanitize your hands frequently.
Stay well!
Potomac Place wishes you a very Happy and
Healthy November.
Sincerely,
Kathryn Barnes
