In Home for the Holidays, Pastor Wayne Palmer takes the reader on a nostalgic ride back to the days of Christmases past. Along the way he mines his own holiday memories, blends in contemporary scenarios, and adds a generous portion of Scripture. Palmer knows Christmas isn't just "fun and games" for everybody. Health and relationship issues, money worries, and a whole lot more rob people everywhere of the true joy of the holiday season. Yet, amid these strains, God makes our Christmas celebration complete through the "home" we have with our Christian brothers and sisters at church. It is there we can come together in Word and Sacrament to renew our faith and recall again the magnificence of God's Good News in Jesus Christ. And it is there—surrounded by those who share our faith—that we remember we have a heavenly home, prepared for us beforehand by Jesus Himself and secured for all believers through His work on the cross. Home for the Holidays is available to read online or can be received on your ereader or via e-mail subscription throughout the Advent season. An audio version of Home for the Holidays will be available beginning Nov. 30 or you can receive it as a podcast. Go to http://www.lhm.org/advent. We are making more quilts! If you would like to help us come on Tuesday mornings at 8:30 a.m. and join in on the fun. HARVEST HOME WORKERS ARE NEEDED Pies Bakers are needed for the Harvest Home Lunch Counter - there are aluminum pie tins available in the kitchen for you to bake your pies in. Please bring the pies to the Anderson Building by 8:00 am on November 22, or you can drop them off at the church. Also, workers are needed for the breakfast and lunch shift, as well as cleanup - there is a sign up sheet in the back of church. Grab a friend or family member and sign up to help serve breakfast or lunch! We have been blessed with a lot of nice, new material but can always use anything like old blankets and sheets to put in the middle. We do have some material we can not use such as lace and chenille squares. If anyone is interested in these, let me know. We also need people to cut squares, we can’t keep up with Ella who sews our tops together. I have patterns and you can cut the material at home. If you can help us in anyway or have questions, please call me at: 343-9157. Thank you, Myrna Hinz and the quilting crew Special Music for Sunday, November 23rd Celebration Service Sunday School Children will be singing during the Celebration Service, “Arky, Arky”, and the LOGOS Children will be singing “Forever Reign”. Please join us for the Celebration Service on November 23rd at 10:30 a.m. Remember only one service that weekend. Following the service we will have an all Church celebration meal.
