S&OP Implementations
Proactive and Reactive - the talk will explore the
challenges surrounding retail planning and controls within
the Chinese market, in particular for Overseas OEMs. It
will raise for consideration how traditional Western
market planning approaches may or may not be
appropriate when forecasting demand, the Chinese
market unique characteristics which need to be
considered when working with dealers to retail plan and
sell cars, the challenges around ideal stock cover and
other planning techniques... Managing the future with Integrated
Business Planning
As Chinese companies face increasing challenges from
overseas competition, slowing GDP and more demanding
local consumers it is imperative that the executive
leadership team take control of mid to long term strategy
deployment on a regular basis to ensure achievement of
their ambitious growth targets. Integrated Business
Planning (Advanced Sales & Operations Planning) allows
senior management to plan and manage the entire
organisation over a 24 month horizon or more, aligning
strategic and tactical plans each month, and allocating
critical resources – people, equipment, inventory,
materials, time and money – to satisfy customers in the
most profitable way.
Global S&OP - Driving Global Supply with
Local Demand
Danone Nutricia, a part of Groupe Danone, is working
closely with parents, babies, toddlers and business
partners in a market of almost 20 million new born a year.
Their business model is to import world class leading
brands, such as Nutrilon or Karicare, to domestic market
via e-business or retail sales channels. Pakorn will share
his experience, of a young start-up company, on how to
drive global network to a complex China supply chain and
cope with local demand.

Vicky Qu
Director, Operations
LEGO
Vicky Qu, LEGO China Operations Director managing
S&OP, forecasting, customer service and customer
logistics. Before joining LEGO, she worked in a different
planet, Mars, for 7 years. In addition to marketing (M&M’s
brand) and sales (key account management) experience,
she worked directly with S&OP with a strong emphasize on
strategic deployment, demand planning and new product
development project management for 5 years.
‘Flexible’ S&OP
process, they shake their heads and bury them into the
hands thinking of complicated, tough, unchangeable
process and principles. But do you know, the S&OP
process Oliver Wight invented is 5 step process; Mars
have a 5 step version S&OP process while Johnson and
Johnson launched a 4 step process; For LEGO BUs,
S&OP is a 5 step process and For SBUs a 3 step process.
Usually we call S&OP Sales & Operational Planning
Process while Mars call it Strategy Deployment &
Operational Planning Process with added strategy
deployment function. A process can be long can be short
can be name A and can be name B with function A and
function B. It’s much more flexible and fickle than women
definitely than me. Therefore what I am going to talk to
you today is that S&OP process can be flexible!
Process is not a sexy word if it is not a dirty word. As one of
the formats of process, when people think about S&OP
